Today we’d like to introduce you to David Gibbs.
Hi David, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I began my practice in August of 2018, so I’m approaching eight years doing this work that I truly love. What brought me here were the challenges I faced growing up and my own personal journey toward financial literacy and freedom.
During the summer of 2017, I kept crossing paths with strangers and sharing my story — and they would be moved to tears, telling me they had never heard anything like what I was sharing before. That’s the moment I knew this was exactly how I was meant to serve people.
I am passionate about people. My goal is to get my clients to a place where rising gas prices, political uncertainty, or whatever life throws at them is just an inconvenience — not something that derails their financial stability.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I actually launched my practice right before a cross-country move, and in those early days I was also a stay-at-home dad raising my little boys. I was coaching during nap times, evenings, and weekends — whatever windows I could find.
Looking back, I’m incredibly grateful for that season. It taught me firsthand what it means to build something meaningful while life is fully happening around you. And that experience has deepened what I want to give my clients — the margin to make decisions based on what’s best for their family and their life, not just what’s necessary to keep the lights on.
We’ve been impressed with Coach David, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a Money and Career Coach — think of me as a gym coach, but for your finances and professional life.
My approach starts with foundation first. Before we touch numbers or career moves, we build a new foundation for motivation, because without that, nothing else sticks. From there, we develop the behavior muscles needed to actually reach your goals — and because every person comes with their own unique abilities and challenges, I customize everything to fit you.
I genuinely love people and I love my clients’ stories. My goal isn’t just for you to survive — it’s for you to thrive, live out your dreams, and show up in this world as 100% yourself. Because the world needs that version of you.
If you’re considering coaching, here’s what you should know: I’m in your corner to encourage you, identify your blind spots, and yes — push you hard when you need it. Real change takes real work, and you have to be ready to do the lifting. What I promise in return is a judgment-free space where you always make the decisions. My job is simply to make sure you can see all your options.
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
The outlook is genuinely exciting. What I’m seeing is that more and more of the taboo and shame around money and career conversations is falling away — people are opening up in ways they simply weren’t before, and that creates a real opportunity to help more people than ever.
At the same time, in a world that is increasingly automated and digital, people still crave real human connection. They want someone in their corner who actually knows their story. That’s something I will always bring to the table — and I believe that need is only going to grow over the next decade.
