Meet Demond Craig of Original Homies

Today we’d like to introduce you to Demond Craig.

Hi Demond, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Thank you for the opportunity. I’ve always had a passion for fashion. I used to distress and bleach my denim jeans, turn jackets into vests add pins/patches and spikes to wear, as a hobby which turned into my first small business venture in the city. The clothing brand Original Homies was started in 2016, in Nashville TN. The brand was created to keep us connected with our Day 1 friends, family and supporters. We decided to relocate to Los Angeles CA in 2017 to grow the brand and to give us a shot at making it big in a big city.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
We’ve faced many obstacles along our journey in the fashion industry. Moving from Nashville to LA and starting from scratch with networking, finding companies to work with in production of our garments, and even adjusting to the difference in culture on the west coast versus in the south are a few things that come to mind when thinking about our early struggles. We have truly embraced the journey of running a business in fashion, the good and bad days.

Original Homies is known for providing quality streetwear garments to men, women and teenagers of all ethnicities. All of our items are unisex and released in limited quantities, to keep an exclusive edge. We use fashion to help keep us connected with our close friends and family across the world. We are constantly thinking of creative ways to market our brand to keep the attention of our current customers along with attracting new Homies. What do you like and dislike about the city?
I love the Southern hospitality that is still alive in the city of Nashville. I was born in Memphis so it’s always a great time when I am able to go back to visit family and friends. The food is amazing and there is so much talent to be discovered here. The city has grown so much over the past five years. Though it is a working progress, I would love to see more diversity, particularly in the fashion industry.
