Deni Baker

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I’ve always been a dreamer and a creator. I was six years old when I got my first glimpse of Elvis Presley. His talent and charisma were infectious. Seeing him helped catapult me into singing more and diving into music and in my late 20s I realized just how Elvis inspired me. The Baz Luhrmann film, “Elvis”, reignited my fever for his vast and unparalleled catalog.

My fiancé, formally of multi-platinum country group Little Texas, and I visited Graceland last December shortly before Christmas to experience the world in which Elvis lived. Quite to my surprise my fiancé, Brady Seals, proposed to me overlooking the horse pasture that’s located at the back of the property. It wasn’t long after that memorable trip, I was sitting in my bed one night and had the idea of going on TikTok and lip-synching to Elvis’ “Don’t Be Cruel.”

I had no idea that I would wake up the next morning and see that my video went viral. As of today, it has over 1 million views. Elvis’ fans around the world seem to embrace my tribute to the King. I’ve continued to handpick songs out of his repertoire that resonate with me. After the third and fourth videos, I started being dubbed as “the female Elvis.”

I was astonished by the response and supportive comments. I continue to pay homage to the legacy of Elvis. I hope I bring a little more awareness to the incredible performer and man that he was.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Music has always been a refuge for me. When I’ve been sad, I run to a song. When I’m happy, I dance. When I’m joyful, I sing. No matter my mood, music has always been there for me. I started singing when I was five years old. I’ve been on stages and in recording studios to feed that passion inside of me.

Funny, a lot of the people that are on TikTok and YouTube don’t even know I sing. I just started introducing my voice online to let them know there’s more to me than just pantomiming. Knowing how to sing, makes my lip-syncing more realistic and mirroring his soul.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Being artistic has always spoken to me.

I believe enjoying what you do is the key to happiness. Singing and creating makes me feel that way. I couldn’t imagine my life without it. I hope to inspire others with my journey with whatever dream they have in their heart.

What matters most to you?
What matters most to me is my relationship with God. I grew up in the church just like Elvis. I believe that it’s important to be a good influence on people while we are on this earth. “You only pass through this life once you don’t come back for an encore.”
