Today we’d like to introduce you to Dominique Smith-White.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My name is Dominique Smith-White and I am the owner of Flawless Faces by Dominique LLC and The Flawless Faces by Dominique Beauty Studio based in Clarksville, TN. I am a 35-year-old wife, mom, and full-time entrepreneur. My interest in all things beauty started when I was a little girl watching my mom get ready for the day.
As I got older and moved to Clarksville from West Tennessee in 2005 to attend college at Austin Peay, I was the girl walking across campus at 8 in the morning in a full face of makeup, hair curled, and heels on lol.
So that prompted people to ask me to do their makeup before parties and other campus events. I didn’t think of seriously pursuing makeup artistry until 2015. I started really expanding my knowledge and practicing my techniques with whoever would let me (friends, coworkers, friends of friends, etc.) and I’m 2016 I made the decision to leave my job to pursue entrepreneurship/being a professional makeup artist on a full-time basis. Fast forward to 2022 and I have to pleasure of servicing thousands of amazing men and women in the city of Clarksville and surrounding areas as well as in various different states. As of October, I’ll be able to add “and abroad” to my resume as I’ll be traveling to Greece for 2 weeks and providing professional makeup services to some incredible ladies there.
Since my official introduction in 2016, I’ve also had the honor of having some of my makeup work published in both physical and digital magazine publications, working with an artist for the 2021 Stellar Music Awards, opening my own beauty studio (Flawless Faces by Dominique Beauty Studio) in 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic, servicing hundreds of bridal parties, and being nominated for 2 and ultimately winning the best makeup artist awards at 2 different awards galas here in Clarksville and o am currently nominated for a 3rd. The support that I’ve received over the years has been overwhelming at times but definitely appreciated.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Along my journey, I’ve definitely encountered a few challenges… a global pandemic being one of them. Covid 19 was a bit of a setback for my business but fortunately, I was blessed to be able to not only sustain my business but to also open up my very first brick-and-mortar location.

I am a full-time Professional Makeup Artist with 6+ years of experience in the beauty industry. I am a multi-published MUA and was voted by my peers and the city of Clarksville as The Best Makeup Artist at 2021 Best In Black Gala as well as The Best Makeup Artist at the 2022 BLK Xcellence Awards. My areas of expertise are Dominique’s Signature Neutral Glam and my Soft Glam Bridal makeup applications. I have just recently added hair extension services for my client’s convenience as well. My goal as a makeup artist is to affect as many lives as I can through the power of makeup.
To me, it’s more than just makeup. Makeup can be a confidence booster for so many women who may struggle with being able to see their natural beauty. What was your favorite childhood memory?
As a child, my family would take yearly trips to Frederick Town, Missouri where we would spend the entire weekend in an extremely rural family house and just enjoy each other’s company, enjoy good food, sit around bonfires, play games, and swim in a nearby lake. It was definitely bond-building and was truly one of the highlights of my childhood.
