Meet Elijah Svoboda of Nashville, TN

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elijah Svoboda

Hi Elijah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Zac and I met first in high school over a decade ago in our hometown of Lockport, IL. We actually started out as competitors in our school’s Battle of the Bands freshman year and would go on to compete every year (my band winning every time). Our ways parted during college but we reconnected after school at an open mic in Lemont, IL.

From there we began to gig regularly together, playing bars, weddings, libraries, whoever would take us, as well as writing our own music. In August 2021, Zac moved to Nashville to pursue music full-time and I joined him later in February of 2023 when he needed a roommate. Since then Limestone Loveseat has played several Nashville venues like the East Room, the Bowery Vault, Fox & Locke, and more. Along with writing and recording original music, Zac and I both gig full time on Broadway.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The biggest obstacle is the same one that faces pretty much any small band these days — trying to perform and share music is more like running a small business than anything else. We pay for recording, touring, merch, gear, etc, all out of pocket (funded by (occasionally) soul-sucking Broadway shifts) and so existence is a constant numbers crunch of what’s feasible. But it’s also like, we’re living the dream, so what do we have to complain about? It’s an odd dichotomy to live in.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We qualify most as a rock band. We like to dip into other genres, most frequently folk and pop, but we always come back to rock. We’re really proud of our debut EP “Loveseat” which comprises five songs that we wrote over the course of finding our identity as a band. I’d say Limestone Loveseat’s specialty is a sort of inclusive vibe that we try to bring to every show. The goal is to always make people feel “in on the joke”; we don’t take ourselves too seriously, we’re not different on or offstage.

What sets us apart is what we call the “Limestone Loveseat Effect”; the two of us bring very different vibes and perspectives to our music and performances and mashing them together creates a unique energy that sometimes clashes and sometimes melds, but always produces something fun and exciting.

Is there anything else you’d like to share with our readers?
