Meet Elmira Loftin of Self Care Boss

Today we’d like to introduce you to Elmira Loftin.

Hi Elmira, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
My parents split when I was five years old. My dad left the home and moved elsewhere. As a child, I felt emotionally neglected, abandoned, and like an outsider. My mom raised me and my five siblings mostly solo. She had an amazing work ethic, working two jobs at one time. Watching her work tirelessly allowed me to see the importance of self-care. Even knowing the power of self-care and self-love, I yearned for the love from a man. Throughout college, I made poor decisions with men due to the anger I felt toward my father. This even led me to being stranded in Baltimore after losing my virginity to this guy.

Why am I telling all of this? Because it shows why my vision to heal men and women from heartbreak is so strong.

In 2008, I went through my own heartbreak and breakup. And mind you, we actually liked each other, but it was still hard. It took me years to overcome the grief.

Around the time of the breakup, I was finishing massage school too. I always say massage was my gateway drug to more healing. Through doing massages, I was able to forgive my dad, forgive my ex, and most of all forgive myself.

Where am I today? Happy and free. Because I love every inch of this chocolate-skinned girl from New Kent, Virginia who used to hate her bowed legs. My desire is for everyone to experience this level of joy whether you are single or married. Self-love is a gift for all humans.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Heck no. What kind of question is that? Anything you desire is rarely smooth. I’m comfortable with jumping and jagged edges. Along this entrepreneur journey, I have lost friends, moved 700 miles from all family, had to change my massage office three times, even been sued to the tune of $10,000.

Most of all, I welcome the challenges because of the personal development. I look back and am so proud of the woman I have become. My light shines. My story inspires others. My vulnerability sells. My voice and hands heal. We all have challenges and by sharing them, we feel united.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Self Care Boss?
Self Care Boss helps singles get their groove back after a breakup. The company serves clients at our office in Murfreesboro plus internationally. We do this through massage therapy, coaching, and movement workshops. Why Self Care Boss? Because your breakup is your breakthrough. Implementing personal self-care practices heals the heart. And you can control what you do next. Don’t get stuck in the grief.

Our offerings are unique because we address the physical and emotional pain at the same time. In the Touch, Tune, and move program clients learn to overcome the breakup grief in just six weeks.

As a trained massage therapist, singer, songwriter, dancer and death doula Elmira combines all gifts in the one-of-a kind services. Every month, Self Care Boss hosts an online Movement for Heartbreak workshop. In the class, attendees learn five magical moves to address breakup grief. And yes, we actually dance during the workshop. Our goal is to make healing fun, not stale.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
I give credit to my family and ancestors. My mom, my dad, siblings, great aunts, grandparents, uncles, aunts, cousins gave me the foundation I needed. They always encouraged me to do my best. My dad instilled using your passion to make money, applying discipline, and accessing intuition. My mom taught me connection and integrity. I recall my mom sending cards to people just because and my dad was an independent musician and creative artist. Growing up, my elders were so critical in daily life. It is why I deeply understand all generations.
