Today we’d like to introduce you to Emily Manning.
Hi Emily, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’m originally from Montgomery, Alabama, and after graduating from Ole Miss, I started my career in healthcare in Birmingham. I worked as an ER scribe and a medical assistant in a busy primary care clinic, which really solidified my passion for patient care.
I went on to earn my Master’s degree in Physician Assistant Studies from UAB and then moved to Atlanta, where I worked as a PA in Urology. It was during that time that I first started to see just how great the need was for better home care—especially for patients managing chronic conditions who often felt overwhelmed or unsupported between doctor’s visits.
In 2019, my husband and I moved to Nashville, and I continued working in Urology at a practice in Franklin. Again, I saw firsthand how impactful good home care could be for a patient’s recovery and overall well-being. Most recently, I had the opportunity to work with two breast surgeons, helping care for patients battling breast cancer. Walking alongside those incredible women through their treatment and recovery was an experience that really deepened my commitment to patient advocacy and excellent care.
Throughout my career, I’ve worked in emergency medicine, primary care, urology, and oncology—experiences that have given me a broad perspective and a deep understanding of how important it is to truly listen to patients and meet them where they are. That’s what ultimately led me to open the homeRN Franklin franchise. I’m so grateful to now provide high-quality, compassionate home care and mobile medical services to the amazing community here in Williamson County.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all—but it’s been incredibly rewarding. Transitioning from being a Physician Assistant working in a clinic to owning a business was a huge leap. I never imagined myself as a business owner, so the learning curve was steep. I had to quickly get up to speed on everything from operations and staffing to marketing and finances—areas I had no formal training in. There are still definitely moments of doubt and overwhelm, especially since the business is still new to this area. But every challenge has helped me grow, both personally and professionally. It’s stretched me in ways that clinical work never did, and it’s been amazing to build something from the ground up that truly serves a need in our community.
As you know, we’re big fans of homeRN Franklin. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At homeRN Franklin, we provide concierge-level medical caregiving and skilled nursing services to residents of Williamson County, along with mobile IV therapy and urgent care. While there are other companies in the area offering similar services, we’re proud to be the only one offering all of these services under one roof—allowing us to deliver comprehensive, flexible care that truly meets people where they are.
We’re also incredibly proud to be a small, female-owned business. When someone reaches out to us, they’re not talking to an answering service or a call center—they’re speaking directly with me or my incredible RN, Bailey. That kind of direct, personal connection is a big part of what makes our care so unique. We know our patients, we listen, and we’re deeply invested in their well-being.
I’m honored to be part of this franchise, where the standards for care are exceptionally high and the focus is always on providing top-tier, personalized support. Whether it’s helping someone recover after surgery, managing a chronic illness, or staying hydrated and energized with IV therapy, we’re here to make a real difference.
More than anything, I want people to know that we’re here to help. If you have questions—even if you’re not sure where to start—please reach out. I’ll always take the time to explain our services and see how we can be of support. And if we’re not the right fit, I’ll do my best to connect you with the right resources. We’re here to be a trusted partner in your care journey.
What were you like growing up?
I’ve always been drawn to medicine—even as a kid, I knew I wanted to work in healthcare. Once I learned about the role of a Physician Assistant, I felt confident that it was the right path for me. I grew up in Alabama as one of three siblings, and my childhood was filled with outdoor adventures—playing outside, riding bikes, and spending summers on the lake with my family.
That kind of upbringing really grounded me and gave me a strong sense of connection to others. It also helped shape the way I care for people today. I approach every client like they’re family—taking the time to listen, relate, and provide support that feels personal and genuine. I believe that foundation has made a lasting impact on how I show up for others in both life and work.
