Today we’d like to introduce you to Erika Rucker.
Hi Erika, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My journey began when my son was born, I started to pay attention to the type of ingredients listed in the products used on his skin. Researching more about skincare, I realized some ingredients were extremely harmful. So I started educating myself on how to create and formulate products that would be gentle, safe and natural. From there The Mellow Bar was created! I began crafting soap for my family and friends which they would constantly request more and more. Over time my passion, desire to perfect and create amazing natural products lead me to The Aveda Institute due to their plant based theory. I became a certified Licensed Esthetician in 2017.
In 2021, that passion still remains.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The pandemic pushed me to think outside the box in order to keep the business flowing.
Being that everyone in the state was instructed to stay at home, I had to focus on another avenue for my business. I decided to get more involved with social media and what a difference it made. It inspired customers to shop online and still receive the quality service they were offered in person.
As orders continued to increase, I decided to provide a service called “Drop & Dash” Delivery. This is a contactless delivery service where customers place a minimum order, and we “drop and go” to addresses provided throughout the Nashville area. Today, We still provide this service.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
My passion and love for creating products that’s beneficial to the skin. I’m best known for my handcrafted whipped body butter, body oils & soap!
My goal is to make sure customers are benefiting from the ingredients that’s provided in each product. A combination of natural ingredients to help moisturize and nourish the skin is my ultimate goal.
