Today we’d like to introduce you to Gregory Gray.
Hi Gregory, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I left the corporate world in 2010 to start a consulting and coaching practice. It has evolved today to be impactful primarily through remote engagement, with some onsite visits as needed. We also have digital materials, such as courses, and are soon launching an app to enhance engagement. My background was in Lean and Six Sigma, with experience in manufacturing turnarounds. That background was instrumental in my ability to assess business financial situations and achieve quick results. Today, we work with many industries, including construction, medical, service, software, and manufacturing. We typically work with organizations with 10 to several hundred employees. Over the fifteen years we have been in business, we have seen the need for quick results only grow. The competitive landscape for many of these firms requires an experienced guide to drive transformative change quickly.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Starting was tough as it took a few years to grow a base of strong results and corresponding testimonials. Once we started growing, the challenge was to maintain personal growth and to maintain continuous learning so we could continue to improve. We had to be intentional about developing new methods and tools to meet our client’s needs. In 2017 we made the strategic decision to discontinue most of our travel and to work remotely instead. We were heavy Zoom users before Zoom was cool. The COVID-19 epidemic took us all by surprise, and thankfully, it only affected our business positively because of the remote nature of our work. We have grown substantially since 2020, partly because being remote is now readily acceptable and sometimes preferred by our clients.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Gray Solution, LLC?
Gray Solutions was initially built to serve organizations from a leadership development perspective. We served through training and consulting with business leaders, and that quickly evolved into Executive Coaching as well. After the first few years, we found a deep interest in business profitability consulting, so we expanded to work on business efficiency and profit maximization. By doing so, the people side and the process side of the business came together under one initiative. We are known for blending the people and process aspects of the company into a cohesive strategic plan to address growth and profits. We are known for creating massive profitability results for our clients. We are different from most consulting and coaching firms in that we bring a holistic approach to finding the key drivers to a positive transformation and then focusing on those areas. Since a brand can be defined as a promise to those you serve, we are proud of our brand. Throughout the fifteen years we have been in existence, we have never been in an engagement with a client that did not yield positive results in profitability, and typically, we exceed the original estimates. We have three levels of engagement with clients. The most common engagement is through coaching. The second most popular engagement is through consulting. That is a deeper dive than coaching. Both yield exceptional results. A third level of engagement, which we have just begun offering, is a quick-results program. This could best be described as intense coaching with more of a do-it-yourself process. Where a typical coaching engagement can last 1 to 3 years, the intensive coaching program lasts 3 to 6 months.
What was your favorite childhood memory?
One of my favorite childhood memories is an early fishing trip with my dad. We went to a river near where I grew up in Nashville. While I remember catching fish, what really struck me about that day is that he gave me his undivided attention. That meant the world to me and still does to this day.
