Meet Hadlie Jo Pritchard of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hadlie Jo Pritchard.

Hi Hadlie Jo, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been singing & dancing since the young age of 3. When I was 7, I started competing in the dance world. In 2018, I won the National Championship of HipHop. At the age of 8, I found out that I had a genetic, rare disorder called “Hypogammaglobulinemia with an Antibody Deficiency”. This means that my body doesn’t produce antibodies to fight off illnesses and infections. Therefore, I take plasma treatments weekly, subcutaneously. Without the plasma infusions, I would have the immune system of a NICU baby. The day I received my service dog, Lucy, I ended up having a dance career stopping injury. I had broken my arm, and tore muscles in my knee. It was the year 2020 and everything shut down, so I made my orthopedic doctors a deal. “If you let me take my cast off everyday for 15 minutes, I will learn how to play an instrument instead of going to physical therapy”. He agreed. A few months later, I performed at my very first open mic night and fell in LOVE with music and performing. I also learned how to play 5 instruments- guitar, banjo, mandolin, piano & fiddle. Now, 5 years later, I’ve been performing all over the United States, including the Grand Ole Opry, the legendary Bluebird Cafe, and written with hall of fame songwriters.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
As a dancer for the majority of my life, knowing I wouldn’t be able to do what I loved anymore, was devastating. So, instead of me performing from the aspect of dancing, God gave me the gift to learn instruments, to find my voice and to fall in love with a new perspective of performing.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a 17-year-old singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist & full-time college student. I specialize in Creative Arts with a Vocal Major. I am most proud of how I turned a negative into a positive. Not being able to perform dancing anymore, but finding my career in musical performing. “Everybody has a story, I’m singing mine”. – Hadlie Jo

Any big plans?
My plans for the future will be to graduate from South Plains College in December, then move to Nashville. I plan to sign a publishing deal soon, and continue working on my artist career.
