Meet Hannah Byrom

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Byrom.

Hi Hannah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Radio was never something I thought I’d do.

When I was younger, I loved listening to the night show on my local station to play along with their trivia games and “top 9 at 9.” My sister and I would keep track of the songs even if we had to go to bed and wouldn’t be able to call in to win a prize. That was something that I just enjoyed doing.

When I went to college, I chose to study Speech Pathology, but after tagging along with my Freshman roommate to one of her radio classes, I knew I was in the wrong major. I changed my major 2 days later and fell in love with broadcasting

It has been a long journey of ups and downs to get from that point to where I am now, but everything in those 14 years has been well worth it!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Absolutely not! Every career path has struggles, and call me biased, but I think the radio industry throws even more your way! It’s a very competitive landscape where you deal with all different types of big personalities, all the while trying to let yours shine in the most genuine way possible.

Getting to where I am now, here in Nashville, has taken a lot of perseverance. Like most jobs, you can be let go for pretty much any reason… a lot of the time, not really knowing why. Sometimes it’s as simple as a change in management … but you can’t take that personally, because it’s a business.

I’ve definitely learned that it’s what you do in that strange, scary blank space between jobs that helps you move forward.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a Morning Show host for Mix 92.9 in Nashville. One of my favorite things about my position is being able to set the mood for somebody’s day.

A lot of the time, we are the first human interaction that a person will have in their day. We have the ability to help them start their day in a good mood, or help pull them out of the stress of their lives.

What are your plans for the future?
I am hoping to stay at Mix 92.9 and be able to share all the next, big chapters of my life on air with our listeners.

Nashville is where I want to grow and make a strong group of friends, it’s where I want to fall in love and get married, and it’s where I want to start and grow a family.

I want our listeners to be there on that ride with me, and I want to be there for them in whatever life throws at them in the next 20 years.
