Meet Hannah Van Woert of Meteor Street Studio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hannah Van Woert.

Hi Hannah, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I used to be a Senior Art Director at one of the Big Five corporations. For over six years, I climbed that corporate ladder. I had even been relocated from Seattle (my hometown) to London – fulfilling a lifelong dream for which I will be forever grateful.

I continued the grind and hustle… working very long hours and, inevitably, doing the job of many people rolled into one. The stress finally built up so much that I reached clinical burnout. After suffering frequent panic attacks, terrible insomnia, and eventually fainting on a London sidewalk (yikes!), I began seeing both a therapist and a career coach.

I realized I had lost my passion and unique sense of creativity. I was working for something I didn’t believe in, for clients whom I’d never met, nor had anything in common with. This had to change. For the next year, I formulated a plan. I saved up some money. I gathered courage. Then I quit!

I began my design studio and have not looked back! Now in Nashville, I help to inspire women-owned small businesses to craft striking brands and websites that command their worth.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The biggest challenge was that I left London to start this business in February of 2020. Great timing. Lockdown seemed to be a blessing and a curse because I had ample time to set up the structures and processes of my business.

I worried that starting a business right as society was getting slammed by a pandemic meant I wouldn’t get any clients. There was a period where that was true. But I took the time to take online business courses and got clear on my “why” and my message. On top of that, I found out I was pregnant!

Right when I found a stream of clients, I had to battle awful morning sickness. Turns out that making a human takes a ton of energy. So I had lots and lots of changes to adapt to. Eventually, I found a routine that worked for me – even if that meant sleeping until noon and working at 3 am when I was too uncomfortable to sleep.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
I see many small-business owners struggling to craft striking brands that command their full value–which leads to feeling like they’re undervalued and held back from reaching their full potential.

I provide psychology-driven brand and website styling through both bespoke creative and premium website templates. This helps build impactful relationships and elevated businesses. I believe that by consistently connecting with your audience in a deep and meaningful way, you’ll build authenticity, loyalty, and trust.

This is why I now draw on my 10+ years of commercial design experience in combination with my artful style and a psychology framework to provide designs that work on every level. That’s how we get you creative that is 100% true to you and your story.

Are there any books, apps, podcasts, or blogs that help you do your best?
I am an avid reader (though having a one-year-old makes that harder to do). You Are a Badass at Making Money by Jen Sincero is a hilarious and truly empowering book that helped me shift my money mindset.

Hype Yourself by Lucy Weiner is an absolute must-read for any small business owner looking to unlock the power of PR. And a fiction book that I tell EVERYONE to read is The Midnight Library by Matt Haig. It is a seriously moving story that helps you understand we are all full of infinite potential.

My go-to podcasts at the moment are the Goop podcast, to learn about new and interesting topics, and My Therapist Ghosted Me. If you want to laugh your head off for hours on end, these two Irish women will not disappoint.

Pricing:

  • Premium website templates are $795.
  • Custom creative starts at $5000.
