Today we’d like to introduce you to Harris Geiger.
Hi Harris, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I moved to Nashville from Atlanta at the end of 2017. After playing in numerous bands and making my way through the hospitality industry to stay afloat, I eventually started to make music under the name Cage King. Since then, I’ve had the opportunity to work and write with multiple artists and bands all over Nashville. This year, I became one of the founders of a writing collective called Quickpen Company. (@quickpenco)
We’re a group of musicians spanning multiple genres and styles geared toward helping other writers find their sound. Our goal is to break through the sync and live music industry and to start working with the big shots in and out of town!
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s been a challenging road to get to where we are today, but largely it’s been a skill issue on my part I think. I’ve been writing for over 15 years now and always struggled to find folks who had similar goals and aspirations that I have. I found a huge solace and comfort in my wife; Piper Geiger whom I met in 2021. She’s been my rock through the ups and the downs.
Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in writing, arranging and world building for others. As a songwriter, I’ve honed my skills to a point where I work incredibly quickly and diligently. I’m proud of the opportunities that I’ve received over the past few years. This year alone I was the first guest on a brand new live show called “Hooked Sessions” that happens every Tuesday at The 8th Room, and was also able to play Skydeck downtown during CMA Fest weekend. For an artist/band without management, I’m proud that I’ve been able to operate within a DIY ethos and been able to slowly grow my fan base.
What makes you happy?
My wife, my family, my dog Cash, and creative expression. I think everyone should be allowed to express themselves to their fullest extent. There’s no better feeling than when you write a song or shoot a video and you’ve got your whole team excited about it.
And my wife? Well, she’s pregnant with our daughter at the moment, and I can’t express how proud I am of her. She graduated from an Esthetics program in Franklin from a school called Agape all while growing a child inside of her. Pretty crazy! Super excited to be a Dad come December.
