Meet Hexproof

Today we’d like to introduce you to Hexproof.

Hello Hexproof, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
We started in 2017 in Tampa, Florida with the motivation of being told “No” when we were auditioning to join a band. So we decided to do it ourselves, therefore creating what we are now which is Hexproof. A group of members who just wanted to be a part of something more and want to do big things not only in music but with the community, ourselves, and finding like-minded people to do that with.

Our motivation came from others telling us “no”, “to give up”, and “we’re not good enough”, etc. and fueled that into our music, our drive, and to be the message to those in the local community that you’re not alone, you are enough and that we want to support you and tell you to keep going! Because that’s exactly what we did and continue to do! We also aim to make people have just as much fun as we do when we perform! We all just want to come together laugh, cry, dance, and rock out! Since we started we’ve played over 50 shows and have gotten opportunities to perform with some of our favorite artists.

We relocated to Nashville, Tennessee in 2020 but unfortunately, the pandemic put everything on hold for us. It wasn’t until the beginning of 2023 we started back up and are rockin’ and rollin’ more than ever! Being in Nashville has been such a blessing for us and we’re so amazed at how many amazing musicians we have gotten to work with and network with.

Nashville has been a big part of helping us grow that community we’ve been aiming for and being able to share our journey with like-minded artists. We can’t wait for future endeavors and what this journey has in store for Hexproof.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
In our time, we’ve had a lot of good, bad, terrible, ely great experiences that have helped shape us and our goals for the long run. One point of our mission is to keep moving forward, and hope to portray that message to our fans through our nostalgic hybrid rock music and our lyricism. Hexproof was launched with the aspiration to inspire those that feel out of place or put down in their surrounding environment.

The band aims to remind as many people as possible that the realm of music is the paramount form of escaping the overwhelming happenings of reality and that it is also incredibly empowering to the human spirit – whether listening, singing along to, playing, and everything in between.

Also, that failure is a normal part of the growth process that is easy to learn from, letting go of the small things in life and throwing aside everyday excuses will make it easier to turn negative thoughts or feelings into the motivation it takes to transform even the wildest aspirations into a livable reality.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We like to say we are a unique mixture of melodic flair and relatable/in-your-face lyricism of everyday situations.

Some folks have described our sound as a bit of a hybrid-alternative-genre; that derives from the different musical backgrounds we all come from – such as punk and rock groups, classical and jazz training, various choirs, and even extremely different tastes in music!

Besides our music, we want our message to set us apart. We will always and unconditionally be right here to encourage and empower others in making your passions, dreams, or goals a livable reality; we understand how everyone else seems to disappear when you need them most. I think we all can agree music is what has gotten us through a lot of tributes and trials in our life.

We just want to inspire those like the artists who have inspired us.

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
No matter what setbacks may come your way, and regardless of what others might say or do to put you down as a person or for what you’re trying to do, DO NOT STOP MOVING FORWARD!

Prove to them that they are wrong, throw away everyday excuses, and break down the barriers to embrace your passions! Achieve what you set your mind to. DO NOT GIVE UP! Because hard work, dedication, determination, and patience pay off, you are not alone in your journey.
