Meet Holly Halliwell

Today we’d like to introduce you to Holly Halliwell.

Hi Holly, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I grew up in a small town in Illinois in a very musical family. My dad built guitars from scratch and my older siblings both heavily pursued music. So, really for as long as I can remember there was never a doubt in my mind as to what I wanted to do, and that was to sing, write music, and perform it.

I began writing songs around age 10 but began writing more seriously in college where I was studying music business. There I met my now-husband and producer, Walter. Since then, God has opened some crazy doors, and to the best of my ability I’ve tried to walk through them faithfully.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has definitely not been smooth, but it’s been so fun, even if at times it doesn’t feel like it. Looking back on my journey so far, I’m so glad that I simply said yes!

At first, the biggest challenge was owning what I actually wanted to do. I felt tempted a lot to drop it all for something in the non-music business world. Once I realized that I really didn’t want to do anything else, one by one, doors opened into opportunities I could’ve never made for myself.

Pursuing your entrepreneurial dream is not the easy road. With it comes a lot of stress, seasons of total unknown, and a lot of risk. But when it’s something you’re really passionate about and maybe the one thing that puts a fire in your gut, I don’t think anyone ever regrets going for it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’m a singer/songwriter and a worship leader. I write songs about Jesus and about my journey in faith, and also songs for the Church. Lately, I’m most known for my worship videos on TikTok and IG Reels. I would say I’m most proud of the leaps I’ve taken to get here because in those moments of deciding to leap or not to leap, they were tests of my faith and trust in God. Every time I’ve taken the leap, He has always been faithful.

If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
Faithfulness. In regards to the success, I’ve found on TikTok and Reels, those worship videos weren’t originally made for social media. My husband and I were recording worship videos for a ministry organization’s virtual conference, and later got permission to repurpose them for social media. I LOVE that my focus in those videos was purely leading an online congregation in worship. It wasn’t for social content and it wasn’t a strategy, I was just being faithful to God and the task He’d given me.
