Meet Ileeana Johnson of G7 Entertainment Marketing

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ileeana Johnson.

Ileeana, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Growing up, I’ve always made it a priority to strengthen my cultural competency. It still heavily influences how I live my life. I went to an international school in England which completely shifted my outlook on life and people so much that I’ve since worked in three countries, lived in four, and visited more than the years I’ve been alive! Combined with my love for music and creativity, I found my happy place in the Entertainment and Marketing industries.

I feel so drawn to marketing for its perfect dichotomy of the right and left brain. The sky’s the limit when it comes to innovation or collaboration, but it’s also supported with data and technology to guide decisions and areas for even more creativity. When people ask what was my favorite subject in school, I still can’t choose just one (except for maybe Chemistry ᠆ Let’s not go there).

After several in-house marketing roles at Universal Music Sweden, MUBI, and Nickelodeon International, I’ve now found my current home agency side at G7 Entertainment Marketing where I get to bring incredible ideas to life for all sorts of communities and cultures.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Constantly adapting to new places was always a challenge. Moving and working in different environments with different work ethics can be both exciting and intimidating at the same time. I had to quickly learn to adjust to different company cultures, different industries, and sometimes even different languages.

I moved to Nashville in August 2020 when the pandemic was still a heavy, scary part of our everyday lives, especially for those of us in the entertainment industry. We’ve had to pivot our strategies and find new ways to connect with audiences in a virtual world. Looking back, I’m thankful I was able to experience and learn from the perspective of “Music City” where so many professionals had to adapt and innovate despite the obstacles.

Overall, these challenges have encouraged me to be resilient and adaptable. It’s been a challenging journey, but this industry can handle it. I’m in great company.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
G7 knows how to make some noise. We specialize in creating unforgettable marketing campaigns and experiences. From talent partnerships to digital innovations, and live event activations, we’re all about helping our clients stand out in the crowd.

Our team has a deep understanding of the entertainment industry and what makes fans tick. We create immersive experiences that really connect with people, feel genuine to the community, and hopefully won’t feel like marketing at all. We believe that if you can create an experience that brings people joy, they’ll remember it and associate it with your brand. And honestly, who doesn’t love a good time?

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
I joined G7 last October and quickly learned this team’s ability to adapt is on a totally different level. Working in live events, you can only predict and prepare so much, but this group is full of well-seasoned players that get things done.

So many times I’ve thought to myself, “Can we pull this off in time?”, and it’s turned out better than I could have imagined. Gratitude is another large part of it: being appreciative of those around you who put in serious work to support you or an event. Employers usually comment on how a good team is hard to find, but I always respond by saying, “Well, so are good companies”. I’m very grateful G7 has both.
