Meet Jasmine Peterson of Beauty by A’meera

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jasmine Peterson. Them and their team share their story with us below:

Jasmine Peterson, founder of Beauty by A’meera, started the company in 2019 with a line of lipsticks. Jasmine was inspired in 2016 when her everyday look turned into wearing lipstick and a cardigan with other attire for work. Give a woman the right lipstick, and she can conquer the world.

Jasmine was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, and has resided in Nashville, TN, for over 12 years. She enjoys new adventures, music, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She is a graduate of Alabama State University with a BS in Business Management and earned a Masters of Business Management with a concentration in Entrepreneurship from DeVry University, Keller School of Management.

She dreamed of being an entrepreneur as a kid; she always came up with innovative ideas and saw challenges as stepping stones. She has a passion for beauty, desires to inspire others and challenge women to express their beauty boldly. She is a certified makeup artist and started her makeup journey in 2012. These are a few reasons she implemented a beauty business for queens to explore and meet their life’s potential.

We all face challenges, but looking back, would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
This Journey has been good so far, with some challenges. When you are on purpose, things tend to go a little differently. We have had a few bumps in the road when it comes to keeping up with the inventory demand; as we all know, starting a business is not cheap. We’re growing based on the demand of our target market. So having the available resources and funds can sometimes become challenging. As a business owner, taking risk is what we do, so all the risk we have taken so far has been successful.

The first year in business, I was able to use my savings as my start-up cost, and we were a recipient of a Small Business Grant from my church, which helped a lot with holiday inventory and marketing. The challenge with most small businesses is funding, the first few years in a business; you’re mainly breaking even. Having extra funding will truly help us expand and increase marketing, which will result in more sales/profits.

We will be looking for an ambassador and/or assistant as we continue to grow in the near future.
