Meet Jason LoCricchio

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jason LoCricchio.

Hi Jason, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I have been writing and playing music since I was 10 years old, honing in my skills from playing in subpar pop-punk bands and leading music at my church every week. I started producing my own music in college where I was studying acting at the time. After putting out an independent album that I thought would go viral (it didn’t) I knew I had to pursue this full time. I moved to Nashville in 2018 with little to no money and only a few people in town that I knew. After 3 years of many ups and downs, I’ve released a second album (Boy vs World, A Suburban Story) and started a duo indie/pop-rock project called REALFICTION with one of my best friends.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Yes and no! There have been many low points. My first year was actually very fun and exciting. I was on a high, working for one of my heroes and releasing music constantly. The next year I was working at a coffee shop with no direction or idea of what I wanted. However, that low made me push even harder to become the artist I am today. I thought I was going in one direction and the universe showed me a different path that has been much more fulfilling. I do however believe that Nashville is a cheat code sometimes. Everyone here is amazing at what they do and at the same time are very humble and incredible humans. The friends I’ve made that I write/collaborate with have made my journey feel more like an exciting rollercoaster rather than a bumpy road. I’ve found people I’d call family here and they have made the road smoother.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I am an Artist/writer/producer here in Nashville, making mostly pop music with a hint of rock and hip hop. I write songs for a living and make beats all day. Among my community I’m known for making catchy songs, I think that’ might be my special sauce. My whole life I’ve been such a fan of music and the way each song made me feel. When I’m in the studio I try to write to song I would want to hear as a listener, not what I think people would want to hear. That’s where I get my specific sound. I’m probably most proud of the new REALFICTION record I made with my “bandmate” Joey Brodnax. It is set to release early next year!

What makes you happy?
My wife and my dog. They are the most important things my life. Period. And food, food is my real passion. Have you ever eaten Taj on Nolensville pike? Tell me you’re sad after eating taj. I bet you can’t.
