Meet Jenny Lingley

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenny Lingley.

Hi Jenny, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
2020 was a year of great trials for our family, as it was for many. For us, it was a year of trying to figure out what was causing my Husbands body to fail him. He began to lose feeling in his hands, his muscles began to atrophy and his right arm began to shrink. The nerve and muscle pain became excruciating and the right side of his body wasn’t functioning properly. From the outside, he looks like a healthy man, but on the inside things were slowly falling apart.

It’s been months of tests and process of elimination in search of a diagnosis. With advice from Doctors back in February 2020, he needed to step away from home remodeling as lifting heavy things could cause severe damage to his fragile spine. In March 2020 we were thrown into quarantine from a worldwide pandemic. As many, it left us both at home with no jobs.

While he couldn’t use his hands, I could, and being home gave me the chance to craft again. I hadn’t picked up my crafting tools since 2010 when my Mom and I closed our family Scrapbook Store, “Made For Memories.” In other circumstances, I would have just picked up my camera and gone to work, as I was a Photographer for 8 years before moving to Nashville, but everything seemed so unclear with covid, so I got to crafting. It was in that moment, that I knew I wanted to bring back our family business name and create things again. This time I wanted to sell things that were meaningful to me and with purpose.

We are always STRONGER when we work TOGETHER and for the good of the Lord. So I made my Husband and I, STRONGER TOGETHER T-shirts. God then put it on my heart to share it, spread it and create it in support of my Husband. Which intern created a bigger movement as the times were more unsettling during a World Wide Pandemic. We are still at the mercy of his Neurosurgeons searching for the end results, but we fully believe in God’s plans. His will is always far greater and better than our own. Our story continues and I continue to create handmade custom items with so much Purpose.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The past two years have been anything but a smooth road. Balancing business, kids, and my Husbands health it has been a struggle to stay afloat but I’ve continued to push through. Nothing brings me more joy than to craft and create things. I fully believe in God’s plan and looking back now, I know He has given me exactly what I needed and what I can handle in his perfect timing.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I make all kinds of handmade crafts specializing in Door Hangers, Wood Signs, Serving Trays, Wood Beaded Garlands, T-Shirts, Vinyl Decals and lots of custom handmade décor items. The list goes on. You name it, and I will try my best to create any custom piece that your heart desires.

I’m so proud that I pushed myself out of my comfort zone and did what God was calling me to do. I was created to create and starting my own business by myself with my own handmade items has brought me so much joy. I’m not sure what sets me apart from others, but I put my heart & soul into everything I make. It fills my heart to see how happy people are to receive handmade items and to know that each piece was made with so much love.

What’s next?
My future plans include hopefully expanding my business, doing local Markets and possibly having a small booth shop in Franklin. My parents will be settling into their new home here in Nashville by the end of the year and having my Mom to work alongside me again will be a dream. She has taught me everything I know and I watched her as a young adult touch so many of our customers’ lives through our previous Scrapbook Store. I can’t wait for the day that Made For Memories is reaching others and touching lives again. I pray and look forward to my Husbands health improving and seeing what paths God has in store for us ahead.
