Today we’d like to introduce you to Joanna Parkinson.
Hi Joanna, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My husband and I have been married for 27 years this July. We have moved 12 times. We’ve lived in 6 states, 2 countries and after military, ministry and school, we landed in Nashville where we finally can call home. The many moves have given us a clear perspective on what God has called us to do. The scene has changed a bunch of times but what happens in each new place is pretty similar. We are called to help people get healthy. We are called to call out the gold in others and help them become who God called them to be. We are so grateful that we landed here in this beautiful state, with these lovely people. We are so excited for the adventure that has unfolded here, for how it is impacting others, and for who we become as we continue to press into the adventure.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a wild ride! My husband was working both as a Doctor of Chiropractic and in hospitals for several years in an effort to support our family. The hospital gig wasn’t really “us” but it was so good financially that it was really hard to quit. I had just started Sozo Thermography in 2019 before the pandemic shut the world for “two weeks”. My business was moving really slowly. Meanwhile, Phillip was going to have to agree to medical interventions in order to keep his job. We prayed and felt a release to quit his job (I normally wouldn’t suggest doing it this way) and stepped out in faith to go back to chiropractic full time during, probably the most inopportune time in our life. My mother lives with us, our 4 kids & two dogs. With a mortgage, raising prices & my fledgling business, it was a nail biter for sure. What we knew for sure is that God is in control and if we felt a prompting to step out in faith we were going to do it. On any given day it felt like we might need to sell the house and all of our belongings and become nomads. However, slowly business increased. We were sustained every single week and now, 5 years later, we are SO GLAD we took that leap of faith. We now get to do what we LOVE and help people we would never have gotten to connect with otherwise. We set our own schedule and have flexibility and freedom that we never had before. We have learned so much and we are so grateful! We are getting to help other people get healthy and become all that God has called them to be.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I, Joanna, started this more holistic journey in 1992 when I started having severe reactions to both gluten and dairy. I’ve walked down so many holistic roads and I’ve hit many dead ends. The knowledge I bring to my Thermography clients has been well researched and often hard won. After getting married, my husband and I spent a lot of years homeschooling kids, researching, and trying different ways of getting healthy for both us and our children. We have been helping holistic friends, just like you, discover the underlying root causes to their health challenges for the past two decades. Phillip @Sozowellness615 helps clients discover what toxins, pathogens, parasites and chemicals have been sabotaging their health journey and then making a strategic plan with gentle chiropractic, supplements and paired magnet therapy to stop those invaders in their tracks and bring the body back to homeostasis. With thermography, I’ve been helping clients discover where they have hidden inflammation that is causing their body to not perform optimally and giving easy lifestyle advice to help remove the interference as well as improve overall health. With our top of the line infraread camera, we can check out your breast health, gut heath, the efficacy of your immune system, your heart health, dental health and more.
We are the mom and dad of holistic health. We hear all the time how comforted people feel when they are with us and how their lives have changed in many ways. Our heart is to see people as a whole and help them to get where they want to go in life. We love our holistic community.
If you had to, what characteristic of yours would you give the most credit to?
I think resilience & integrity have been the qualities most important for our success. We have just kept on moving forward. We have moved forward even when we were scared. We knew we were moving the right direction and have just kept getting up every time we were knocked down. We also focused on the basics. Sleep, movement, activity, great community, laughter & tears are all essential to our success. We have felt all of the hard, all of the joy and then we kept moving. Whether we have been down or up, we have stayed true to who we are! We just keep loving people.
