Meet John Markley

Today we’d like to introduce you to John Markley.

Hi John, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I moved to Nashville in 2017 where I started working for a local Men’s clothing store called the Oxford Shop in Greenhills. I enjoyed working there and made some great connections with customers from all around the area. I later transitioned to a sales position for an IT company in 2019.

After working in the corporate setting for a few years, I came to realize it wasn’t for me. I felt I needed to express my inner creativity and working at a desk from 9-5 was driving me crazy. I decided to take a risk and start my own business in early 2021.

Since then, I’ve grown my cooking channel to 29,700 followers and I’ve found success with my Media business, Markley Media!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Not smooth! I’ve had to overcome various obstacles along the way. There was lots of stress, anxiety, soul searching, and prayer before I finally found my purpose. It’s been a crazy ride but I feel that I’ve finally started my true journey.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Everything started with an Instagram account I created called Cooking With Cast Iron. Here is an article, I wrote telling my Journey from starting CWCI to owning Markley Media!

What makes you happy?
Cooking and helping others. I love to cook because it’s a soothing and peaceful experience for me. I’m always trying to help others where I can and connect great people with other great people!
