Today we’d like to introduce you to John Yates.
Hi John, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I fell into the wedding industry mostly by accident. And now eleven years later I can’t think of anywhere else I’d rather be. After college, I was primarily focused on music as my creative outlet. I have always loved taking photos and got serious about photography by taking photos of other bands that I knew. My love for photography grew and as well as my interest in my work as a photographer. When I was first asked to photograph a wedding I was very apprehensive but quickly found a love and a passion for it.
Photographing weddings gives me a chance to flex all of my creative muscles. On a wedding day, I am photographing all kinds of images and have to be ready to adapt to ever-changing lighting and locations. I love the challenge as well as the responsibility that it comes with. Delivering images to my clients knowing that these images will tell their story to future generations is such an honor.
Now eleven years after photographing my first wedding, I have a thriving wedding photography brand with an amazing team that supports me. We have added videography to our services and travel all over the world for our clients. In addition to my wedding photography brand, Celladora Photography. I also photograph commercial work for several clients in the Nashville area.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being an entrepreneur comes with its own unique challenges and rewards. The wedding industry is a very competitive space. I have been extremely lucky to have such amazing clients who have continued to refer me to new couples year after year.
I also have a strong network of other vendors and photographers who I am able to rely on and learn from. Seeing different companies and individuals be able to build each other up is truly inspiring. I definitely wouldn’t be where I am today without the support and encouragement I have received.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
My business provides photography and videography services for couples in the Nashville area and destinations around the world. We specialize in capturing weddings, engagements, elopements, proposals, and events. Our work has been featured in both local and national publications.
I really feel like I offer couples a chance to feel comfortable and really let loose and be themselves. My experience lets people feel at ease. My personality allows couples to really connect and be present in each moment. I love working with couples who look at their wedding day as a celebration and I’ve been known to get out on the dance floor with them.
My style of photography features vivid true to life colors, something that I think will never go out of style. The videos we produce feature both documentary and cinematic elements to give viewers the sense that they were actually there at the event.
I strongly believe that all couples deserve to have their love story documented in a beautiful way. My company welcomes all couples regardless of race, religion, or sexual orientation. I am extremely proud of the diverse clientele that chooses to hire us and love that each wedding we photograph is a unique representation of that couple, their love, and their families coming together.
So, before we go, how can our readers or others connect or collaborate with you? How can they support you?
I am always open to collaboration and love meeting people with unique visions. My work would be incredibly bland without the beautiful and creative people and ideas that get it in front of my camera for me to capture.
