Meet Jordan Smith of Glo Spray Tans

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Smith. 

Hi Jordan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started Glo in Memphis, TN in May of 2017 because I wanted to offer a mobile spray tanning experience that gives you a natural, safe, & healthy tan in the comfort of your own home. As someone who LOVES getting spray tanned myself, I knew the troubles of feeling rushed after getting sprayed at a salon, having to put clothes on immediately after application, getting in your leather seated car – trying not to let your legs stick to the seats, and dodging the rain on rainy days… enter Glo! 

My husband and I moved to Nashville June 2019, so I decided to close Glo in Memphis and move it with us here. Rebuilding my clientele in a new city wasn’t easy, but I have amazing clients that would pass my name on to their friends, post on social media, and spread the word which has really helped get Glo to where it is today. Word of mouth & social media can be the most powerful tools! 

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. Moving from Memphis to Nashville, I went from 60 clients a week, to maybe 3-5 in the first few weeks of living here. As my name got out there over the summer of 2019, Glo grew more & more, and I finally felt like I was getting momentum, but then – cue the pandemic. It felt like I had to rebuild my books over and over. 

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Glo Spray Tans?

There’s nothing a photographer hates more than having to edit out a bad, orange-y spray tan. With Glo, this isn’t something you have to worry about! With our product and technique, we deliver a very natural-looking tan that will last. 

What has been the most important lesson you’ve learned along your journey?
The Glo brand is bigger than how the Instagram, website, or even the tan looks. It’s also about the client experience. Relationships matter. Being kind matters. Those things will get you far.
