Meet Julie Tucker

Today we’d like to introduce you to Julie Tucker.

Hi Julie, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Tennessee Tiny Weddings is truly Heaven sent. I had been in the corporate world for 33 years and thought I would retire from my position as Marketing Director, but my Dad got sick and my boss didn’t like it. And like you sometimes see in the movies, I was given an ultimatum and was told it was my Dad or my Job! My Husband, James encouraged me to leave my job and take care of my Dad. I was able to spend the last two months of my Dad’s life by his side and for that, I will be forever grateful. Several months after my Dad’s funeral me and my friend Tammy was having lunch at my house. It was a beautiful day and Tammy was looking out the window into my backyard and she said “Julie, why are you not having Weddings in your backyard”? James and I have been in ministry since 1995 and have officiated many Weddings & Funerals, but had never thought about doing Weddings on our property. I starting learning all I could about the Wedding Industry, joining Facebook groups, taking classes, etc. The 1st name was Weddings with Julie, then it became Weddings with Julie & James, and finally it was like the name Tennessee Tiny Weddings with Julie & James just fell from the sky. Our 1st few Weddings were only the couple. Then I came up with eight mix-matched chairs and was able to hold a ceremony for the couple and up to eight guests, that kind of went on as I added chairs or haybales. Now our largest package is the couple and up to 20 guests. Another cool thing is James and I know lots of reasons to have a tiny wedding because back in 1995 on my 30th Birthday, we were married….no guests and 4 in our bridal party. Kinda funny how things work out.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It really has been a very smooth process. I started out tiny .. no pun intended! And actually started out debt free, which makes all the difference starting a business.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Tennessee Tiny Weddings is such a reflection of me and all the things that I love and hold dear. I always try to do my inside chores, emails, contracts, and phone calls done 1st thing in the morning so I can head outdoors and work in the great outdoors. I love being able to step out my back door and be at work. I have always loved to play in the dirt, so The Love Shack is one of my favorite places in the Springtime. The Love Shack is surrounded by flowers and herbs and is the original wedding backdrop. I get to be creative in many ways here at TTW. The Hitchin’ Post is like my doll house for Weddings. I like to change it up with each season and usually try to change out something in-between Weddings, so every Bride has something different than the one before or after.

Before we go, is there anything else you can share with us?
Tennessee Tiny Weddings is appealing to so many couples, especially the ones that truly want something intimate. Also, we are popular for the couples that want something sweet & simple with up to 20 of their favorite peeps and have also become known for destination weddings for folks visiting Nashville, Tennessee. We love all of our couples, no matter if they want something small because they are shy or have anxiety, maybe they want to spend their money on a honeymoon or house, sometimes couples are looking for a tiny ceremony and doing something larger later, and some couples just love the peacefulness of the property and all the photo opportunities. We have three main Ceremony Settings but actually hold ceremonies in numerous locations of the spacious property. The venue is located minutes from the Nashville Airport and we are open daily by appointment only.
