Meet Kate Sutherland of Luna Therapeutic Massage

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kate Sutherland.

Hi Kate, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a Nashville native who wandered to Colorado, which is where I figured out that massage therapy is my calling.

It suits my need for deep connection with people. I have loved returning to my hometown with this new skill and being able to help my community find healing one person at a time.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
I tried several other career paths before I figured out what I should be doing for a career. I went about it the wrong way— once I thought about the day-to-day process of a job and how to match a job description to what motivates me best, massage therapy revealed itself pretty quickly.

A mid-life career change is always a bumpy road, but I could tell from the beginning that this was the right path for me. I wasn’t swimming against the current to try and make a career work for me— I could finally flow with a career that aligns with my skills and strengths.

We’ve been impressed with Luna Therapeutic Massage, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Luna Therapeutic Massage is a one-woman shop.

I weave together several massage modalities— deep tissue, neuromuscular, myofascial, Medi cupping, etc., but every session is different because I intuitively follow the client’s body, constantly reassessing what comes next based on how my client is reacting now, at the moment. I feel that one of the elements that set my work apart is that I really listen to my clients and their bodies. They set the agenda and I help them get where they want to go.
