Meet Katrina Lynn Whetsel of White, PA

Today we’d like to introduce you to Katrina Lynn Whetsel.

Hi Katrina Lynn, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My bio
Katrina Lynn is such the complete artist today that it’s hard to believe she ever experienced such harsh criticism and negativity. With a severe case of stage fright and repeatedly being put down for wanting to sing, she overcame her obstacles and at the tender age of 14 stepped into the limelight to begin her singing career as a country music artist. Thanks to her grandpa, she hit the stage for her very first performance at a local festival called Mt. Tabor Home Coming. Growing up in the small mountain town of White, PA, she comes from a family of country and rock and roll music. With idols like Reba McEntire and Johnny Cash, it’s easy to hear the traditional/soulful influences in her voice while at the same time hearing a modern power house of female country attitude! After recording her first demo CD her name began to spread and performance opportunities opened up! Performing 100s of shows as well as taking first place in multiple competitions over the years, Katrina’s voice reached the ears of Nashville Producer/Songwriter David Walker, of “Walker Musical Enterprises”. She made a trip to Nashville, TN. and recorded her first professional album titled “Towin the Line”.  Soon after returning from Nashville Katrina started catching the attention of country music radio stations around the world! Many of which she earned interviews, spotlight segments and permanent rotation of her songs! Katrina made her way onto the European Circuit and topped the ECMA music charts in Germany, Switzerland, Sweden, and Australia, alongside some big names like Martina McBride, Faith Hill, Tim McGraw, Luke Bryan, Taylor Swift and more! She was even featured on The ECMA’s Country Music Legends in the Making album and show! Katrina competed in a radio music contest featuring artists from around the world on Texas Radio Station KVGI’s Show “Crush It or Flush It”. She won 6 times in a row by fan vote, earning her worldwide exposure and permanent rotation on KVGI Radio! The last 5 years were a huge jump for her as an artist, she brought home music awards and numerous nominations, from Fair Play Country Music Awards, International Singer-Songwriters Association and others. She continues to be featured and perform on TV and Radio shows broadcasting world wide! Not only does Katrina have a powerful voice that can cause goosebumps and bring you to tears but she has the down home heart, drive and faith that anything is possible while also having the mind of an entrepreneur who knows how to make you stop and take notice. With new music in the works, more music award nominations and out of state performances, Katrina is one singer on the rise to great things!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
it has not always been a smooth road. It’s a lot of hard work just trying to get people to give you the chance to show them what you have. It takes a lot of practice hard work and dedication in all aspects. Whether you’re working to keep a band together. Book gigs, Rite music arrange travel. There’s a whole science behind it but it’s worth every hard day when you get to stand on that stage in the music flows through you and if one person can relate to what you’re singing and put a smile on their face or make them dance then you’ve done your job.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I’ve been singing country music and playing guitar since I was 14. I’m known for upbeat girl attitude style songs and my rhinestone style. What sets me off from everybody else is my unique voice and sparkling style. I’m most proud of my performance at ISSA I performed my newest song “The Real Copperhead Roaf” that’s based off the story of my great grandfather and his moonshine running days. I wrote the song in honor of my grandfather, who passed away. He would share the stories with me and he always wanted me to put it into a song. The song is my family‘s history in our hometown.
