Meet Kazuha Oda of Memphis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kazuha Oda

Hi Kazuha, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
I started out as a solo singer in Japan and worked as a vocal coach as well. But I always had a dream to start my own rock band. One of my long term friends Hideki -guitarist- helped me start the band and he gave me the idea to have the band name as “Kazha”. (Kazha used to be my stage name in Japan)

We obtained our US visa and eventually moved the base of operations to Memphis. We are still under the non-resident visa so we do go back and forth between Japan and the USA when necessary, but I am grateful for the event organizers, venues, my agent, and all of my sponsors to keep giving me opportunities.
In 2018, I was selected as one of the official ambassadors for “Music Export Memphis” and have been touring nationally representing the birth place of Rock’n’Roll since then!

I still have a lot of plans and I am still far from calling myself successful, but I am very happy and thankful for where I am.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has never been a smooth road but I still enjoy.
Touring life is not easy. Maintain a good mindset when you travel with same group of people all year round is not so easy but I wouldn’t call it a struggle. I’m doing what I love so I am enjoying no matter what.

One of the biggest challenges may be that Hideki (guitarist) and I both have rare health conditions. Hideki has a condition called Dystonia. It’s a neurological disorder that causes a muscle contractions and a middle finger of his left hand stopped functioning few years ago. He plays his guitar without his middle finger but he still is one of the best guitarist I have worked with! He never stops practicing, always has a great work ethic, and I admire that very much.
I have a condition called MCTD and have been living with multiple symptoms. Maintaining my health may be my biggest challenge along the way but I still wouldn’t call it a struggle. I am grateful for what I have and feel lucky that I’m still able to do what I love.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I am a recording artist. I write and perform music for people.
My mission is to give people some positivity and uplifting moments in their everyday life. I believe that music is one of the healing methods that can make people happy or feel positive. It would be great if my music can make people’s day a little better especially when they are going through hard times.
I receive messages and comments from fans around the world saying that my music made their day, or the music keeps them motivated, inspired, etc. Those words help me realize that I am doing something right and they help me keep moving forward.

What are your plans for the future?
I have many exciting plans for the future.
I will be adding new cities/locations to visit and hopefully new countries too!
