Meet Kyungri Kay Mason of Nourish Skin Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kyungri Kay Mason

Hi Kyungri Kay, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I returned to school at the age of 33. I was experiencing some difficulties in my relationship with my husband and realized they stemmed from my own unhappiness. So I was looking for something new in my life to see if this would help me find my better self. And that’s how I got into esthetic school. I had no clear idea where this would lead me to. I honestly had never even received a facial before. But as I went through the program, I realized I really enjoyed what I was getting into, and discovered I had a talent for it. And gradually, my happiness returned, both in my personal life and in my marriage.

While attending school, I worked at a chain spa, getting paid less than I would at a Target. But I could bear this because they promised to hire me after I get licensed. But 4 months after I passed the state board, they still didn’t hire me but kept having me at the front desk. At that time, I was pregnant with my first child and felt the need to plan my future more clearly. I pleaded with the manager to train me and schedule me on the books, all I heard was “we are working on it”. I had a meeting with the owner too, but he told me I was impatient. So I quit and he said I couldn’t find any better place than here because I was a beginner in this industry. Honestly he only made my decision easier at this point. I had a full month of resting with my baby in my belly and it was so much needed. During that break, my husband was encouraging me to start my own business and helping me a lot with setting up a small business. So that’s how Nourish Skin Nashville was established somewhat “accidentally”!

That is so funny how our marriage itch turned into a blessing in my life. My husband was the reason why I went back to school and also started my own business. Our relationship has never gotten stronger than ever since that!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I feel incredibly blessed to reflect on my journey as a solo esthetician and small business owner. I have such sweet and loyal clients, supportive friends and family, great partner company to work with and best husband!

But the most challenging part is being a working mom without having any family nearby. When I started Nourish Skin Nashville, I was already 6 months pregnant and ever since that I’ve been growing my business and my family simultaneously. I have gone through 2 pregnancies, and births since I started my business. And now my boys are 3 years old and 9 months old and Nourish Skin Nashville is almost 4 years old!

Working mom’s life is hard and I struggle to spend more time with the family while taking care of the business side, but it’s the most rewarding challenge and I’m glad I’ve been able to handle it most of the time! 🙂

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Nourish Skin Nashville?
Nourish Skin Nashville is a holistic facial spa for all skin types, genders and ages. In an area where numerous medical spas are growing particularly in Nashville and Franklin, our approach differs significantly. Instead of relying on harsh treatment or injectables, my team and I prioritize working in harmony with our clients’ natural body’s circadian rhythms.

Our goal is to help clients embrace their natural beauty and age gracefully through our relaxing but result-driven facial experiences. We believe in nurturing the skin from within, focusing on overall wellness and balance rather than quick fixes. With each facial, we aim to provide not only exceptional treatment but also a journey towards confidence.

Any big plans?
We are working on moving to a little bigger space than now as our team is gradually growing! I may be in a new place by the time this interview is published! Stay tuned with us on social media for an exciting update!
