Meet LaTaveya Vault

Today we’d like to introduce you to LaTaveya Vault.

Long story short, I am a wife, mother & a southern girl from Pine Bluff, Arkansas who had the audacity to dream big.

Hi LaTaveya, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
All my life I enjoyed writing, I loved all aspects of film and theater production but, my passion was singing. I truly believed that I would sing on large stages like Whitney Houston or Aretha Franklin someday.

I followed that dream to Los Angeles in 2012 where I was able to make great connections and obtain a manager but a few months after I moved there, my mom suddenly passed away and I had to move back to Arkansas.

I continued to pursue music and even released an album but I lost the passion to pursue music professionally and I felt that God was pulling me in a different direction. Shortly after that revelation, my husband, who is my biggest supporter, and I decided to move to Nashville for a fresh start and new opportunities. It was the best decision ever!

Since being here, I have been fortunate enough to intern for reality television star and money mogul, Dr. Jewel Tankard. That opportunity opened the floodgates to my film and television career. During the 2020 pandemic, I decided to leave my corporate job in Human Resources to freelance in the film and television industry full time.

Since that faith move, I’ve won a short film competition and had my screenplay produced by a production company in Atlanta. I also wrote and directed another short film that has won several film laurels in the film festival circuit. I’ve worked and coordinated productions that included celebrities like Sheryl Crow, Dr. Ben & Jewel Tankard, Tamar Braxton, Angela Yee, and more.

I’ve also been fortunate enough to develop an ongoing working relationship with 353 Media Group and obtain representation from The Lacroix Agency and recently Focused Eye Productions. I was also a screenwriting finalist in the 2021 Nashville Film Festival, I was featured in Black Screenwriter’s Magazine as a screenwriter to watch in 2022 and I also wrote and self-published my first book this year entitled “25 Unique Writing Tips For Aspiring Writers With Crazy Ideas”, that is currently available on Amazon.

I currently have tons of projects underway including Executive Producing my very own Nashville-based reality show, showcasing and highlighting some of Nashville’s best female business moguls. Needless to say, I have been extremely busy on purpose and for purpose.

I am excited about how God is using me and I know that this is only the beginning. I still have so many goals and dreams that I haven’t even scratched the surface of.

This journey has not been a smooth one.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Let’s just say it took a while for the money to match the work. When starting off in this type of industry, you have to be willing to take a pay cut to build your resume. Thank God for my husband who stepped up in a major way to pick up where there was slack because trust me, there was a lot of it.

I am thankful that my work ethic, experience, and just pure love for what I do, are being appreciated, valued, and sought after. Yesterday’s price is definitely not today’s price and that’s a blessing.

I am a Screenwriter and film/television Director.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in creative writing in all forms, that includes music videos, films, television shows, plays, and commercials. I can do it all. I am known for my twists and suspenseful storytelling. You will never predict my movies or shows because I am always thinking outside of the box.

I am most proud of my amazing support system. My family, my friends, and my church are literally the foundation of my current and future success. But most notably, I am extremely proud of my husband and how his contribution to my creativity has made him a creative genius in his own right.

He has so many tv and movie ideas that I can’t wait to help bring to life. We’re a solid team.

The Covid-19 crisis scared me straight.

The crisis has affected us all in different ways. How has it affected you and any important lessons or epiphanies you can share with us?
I realized during the pandemic, that life was short and that I needed to be doing what I loved and that’s the reason I walked away from a decent-paying job with amazing benefits to be a freelance screenwriter.

I believe Covid-19 did that for a lot of people who were stagnant and comfortable.

Oh wow!!! This story is so inspiring. The most inspiring part is the way you juggled it all motherhood, being a wife and just everyday life. I love the way you never gave up on you and your dreams.
