Meet Latisha Colburn of YourWholisticHealth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Latisha Colburn.

Hi latisha, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
My journey into holistic nursing really began at home as a mother of four. Working in Med-Surg, the ER, and later in home health specializing in wound care, I saw firsthand how many patients were cycling through the system without anyone ever addressing the deeper ‘why’ behind their symptoms. I kept feeling this pull that there had to be more—more education, more whole-body insight and more root-cause support than what traditional medicine alone was offering.

That curiosity turned into a passion. I began diving into functional and integrative approaches, learning how nutrition, environment, stress, and the gut all shape our health. I realized my heart is in bridging that gap—bringing the best of both worlds together, from children to older adults, so they can understand their bodies and truly heal.

That’s what led me to start my own holistic nursing business, I get to walk alongside people, educate them, and empower them with the tools I wish every family had access to. It’s been the most meaningful extension of both my nursing career and my role as a mom

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
One of the challenges I’ve faced in bridging the gap between functional and conventional medicine is navigating the limitations of my current scope as a registered nurse. While I’m trained in whole-body assessment, education, and root-cause support, I’m not yet able to prescribe or manage conventional medications the way a nurse practitioner can.

Instead of viewing that as a setback, it’s actually shaped my path. It pushed me to become highly skilled in lifestyle-based healing, nutrition, detox support, and functional assessment, and to collaborate closely with providers when prescription support is appropriate. It’s also why I’m continuing my education—so I can eventually offer both the natural, foundational care I believe in and the medical interventions families may need as well.

This challenge ultimately strengthened my purpose: to stand in the gap, empower people with knowledge, and build a model of care that honors both science and nature the way God intended.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My business is built around one mission: helping families and individuals get to the root of their health struggles using a whole-body approach. I specialize in functional assessments, gentle detox, gut and hormone balance, pediatric wellness, and personalized holistic care plans that support everyone from young children to older adults.

What sets me apart is the blend of my clinical background as a registered nurse and my holistic, naturopathic training. I don’t offer one-size-fits-all advice—I dig deeper. I look at patterns, lifestyle, environment, and underlying dysfunctions that often get missed in quick office visits. I’m known for making complex health concepts simple and practical, and for empowering my clients with tools they can use at home every day.

I walk with people, not ahead of them. As a mom of four and a practitioner, I’ve lived what I teach. My approach is warm, faith-based, evidence-informed, and deeply personal. Clients come to me because they feel heard, understood, and supported. My passion is bridging the gap between traditional and functional medicine so families can finally feel well, naturally.

Let’s talk about our city – what do you love? What do you not love?
I love that we are deeply rooted in love, faith and family. We care for others and I believe that “southern hospitality” is fully practiced here. When you look around you can truly feel a sense of community all around! I do pray that we can come together more – rich & poor, old & young, black & white no matter our differences and realize that we are all created equal in the image of God.
