Meet Lady Leah

Hi Leah, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Well my name is Leah ODURO-Kwarten AKA LADY LEAH. I started singing at the age of 5! I admired and Watched my beautiful mom ( the Late Erma Jean Tyson) sing to people as she made them come alive and happy just with her singing and I thought that was just an epic thing to see as a “little girl”.

As I grew older I began to follow in my mom’s footsteps in singing. God opened doors for me tremendously and this is Whr my journey started. Blessed to travel singing and being THE LEAD SINGER in MOST OF THE EVENTS’! Then I decided to sing backup for Well Known Artists such as Ricky Dillard Angela Spivey Bryant Jones just to name a few! But what was a bit out of pocket is that my husband (Rudy) didn’t really approve of it! But yet he allowed me to do it! (As he say he didn’t wanna hear my mouth about it lol). He knew this was my passion, I loved it I lived it and I stood by it! So my husband knew this was what God gifted me to Do! I was confused. I loved to sing but he wasn’t pleased not against but he wasn’t pleased with me singing backup period!! So I felt he was against me and not for me! So that built a bit of a wedge in our marriage for a while. Nevertheless he would try his best to explain why he felt the way he did but I was not hearing it! #PeriodT But in this quiet storm i was battling IT finally hit me! God was using my husband in a way to get my attention!! #Wow God wanted to let me know that my husband wasn’t no near against me but HE SAW SOMETHING IN ME THAT I DIDN’T SEE IN MYSELF!!! And that was BEING AN ARTIST OF MYSELF! That there Blew My Mind!!

So I ran with it! So ironically I attended a musical that I was invited to. During the musical they introduced a few music producers. The next day I messaged a producer by the name of Plu Harmon didn’t know him at all but reached out to him asking to meet with him. He messaged me back stating he had a songwriter (Angie Frazier) that was looking for someone to sing her song! called He Worked It Out. I did it and it was Fantastic!! Radio stations are playing it now. Then I decided to write my own songs and market them!! So now I’ve written 8 and out of the 8 IM YOURS IS BEING TALKED ABOUT AND PLAYED! I’ve had numerous radio interviews and personal interviews! Just Got signed with a record label IRMusicGroup founded by Bishop Norman Hutchins! Very well known all over the world! He heard me singing at a workshop called “SHOOT YOUR BEST SHOT” @ the G.I.N. (Gospel Industry Network) Event in Miami. I had only 20-30 seconds to convince them and as they say I blew there mind Because a STRONG POWERFUL VOICE WAS COMING OUT OF A SMALL BODY!😆 I HAD THE IT FACTOR they told me! Several record labels were there and IRMusicGroup took me under their wings First so I accepted! So opportunities are hitting me left and right and I am enjoying the journey! To top it off I’ve been invited to perform for the Secretary of State of Illinois for his retirement party at the United Center! This is Huge in Chicago! Getting Ready to Tour and Do a Live Television/ Music Video in California for my New single with the record label called “ IF YOU WAIT” God is truly Smiling on me and im Enjoying every bit of it!! People tell me all the time that This Is Just The Beginning! I’m in awe of what God is doing in this season for me!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
No, it has not been a smooth road. I’ve been thru a bit much. Everything has been challenging my mom died in my arms, and that took a lot out of me.

Which lead me not to pursue my dreams! I’ve been pushed aside and talked about lied to because people were jealous. But I learned that every trial. Every setback and every problem makes us all stronger and it helps us endure the battles.

I’m a Music Artist, Baker, Actress, mother, pastor wife, and Daredevil I specialize in singing and Baking.

I am known for both my singing and baking. I am most Proud of Stepping out on my own as a music artist. What sets me apart from others is Just Being ME And the Anointing that God has poured on me.

What matters most to me is inspiring and uplifting others and letting the world know that you’re not alone and you can do it regardless of what you’re going through.
