Meet Lisa Kalz of Franklin

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lisa Kalz

Hi Lisa, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My journey began 25 years ago, worked in the cosmetic industry as a regional and national makeup artist for companies like Chanel, Christian Dior and Lancome. I was self taught and wanted more. I one day had a conversation with my father who at the time was an entrepreneur so I valued his advice. I wanted to broaden my craft and I was shocked to know that my father (Gus) had suggested I attend Westmore Academy of Cosmetic Arts in Burban, Ca.The Westmores!!!! Look up the family! I walked into this academy with an open mind, put aside what I thought I knew, and learned everything about the art of makeup artistry and was in a trance, soaked it up like a sponge! Three months in I was asked to become an instructor, that was unexpected! Students came in from all over the world and what an honor to teach and watch these women and men grow! It wasn’t easy, The entire experience was challenging and rewarding! And I was hooked.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Some of the struggles were, ok I am now ready to find work so I signed with an amazing agency for 12 years that was the best route for me at the time. Went out on my own after I left. I had already developed a relationship with many clients, traveled with film and politicians all over the United States and Europe.
Moved to Tennessee was a bot of a challenge, not knowing anyone and having to re-establish myself once again.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I work as a Makeup Artist in the entertainment industry and have educated others that want to learn. I specialize in Film, tv, commercial, live events, fashion editorial and runway.

I am known for my creative background as well as present as a Creative, reliable, patient, pay attention to detail, and easy to work with.

I am most proud of having the opportunity to be educated by the Westmore family in Burbank CA.

What sets me apart from other makeup artists is that I compete with myself, pushing myself to continue to learn more in my craft. learning new techniques from my peers and doing my research.

So maybe we end on discussing what matters most to you and why?
What matters most to me is my family. Making time to visit them. I fly out every month to make this happen.
