Meet Maggie Sloan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Maggie Sloan.

Hi Maggie, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’ve been lost before. But my journey through it is what brought me to life coaching. In finding myself, I discovered my passion for helping others do the same.

After graduating college, I was working a part-time job that I knew wasn’t going anywhere. I had no clue what I was doing, zero direction, and I felt extremely lost. The questions, “What am I doing with my life?” and “What’s my purpose?” were constantly spinning on repeat in my brain.

I had just gotten my degree in Nutrition, but my interests had shifted a bit and I was newly interested in holistic health. Instead of pursuing my interests, I felt bad for not using my degree and spent way too much time weighing the pros and cons of enrolling in a health coaching program. “Should I? Shouldn’t I?” I was consumed with ‘shoulds’ and desperately worried about what my parents and peers would think.

In a gutsy moment of hope, I enrolled in a holistic health program and I fell in love with coaching.

Unfortunately, my timing was off. I went through a break-up, moved to a new city, and started a whole new career path. But eventually, the newness wore off and I was back to questioning my life again.

Years passed, and it wasn’t until I started taking responsibility for myself and my circumstances that I started to reclaim my happiness. I had to stop the habit of prioritizing everyone and everything else in my life and start prioritizing myself. I had to give these hidden parts of myself the attention they needed. I had to acknowledge my unique gifts that I bring and start taking my dream seriously.

Since that dream wasn’t going away, I decided to retrain as a life coach.

Once the pandemic hit, I got laid off from my job and within the same week, an old coworker reached out to me out of the blue asking me about my coaching. To me, the sign couldn’t be clearer. Instead of holding myself back in fear, I had to say yes to her. And that was the official beginning of my life coaching practice.

Since then, I’ve been coaching clients to find their purpose, connect to their intuition, and come back home to themselves through self-compassion. I help them get clear on what they want, find that direction, and learn to deeply love themselves.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I think it’s pretty clear from my story that it definitely hasn’t been a smooth road. It was hard feeling so lost all the time and I felt alone in my struggles. I spent so much time holding myself back.

I look back on that time and wish I had a coach. Someone who I could talk to about my feelings, hopes, and dreams, even if they seem unrealistic. I needed someone to question what was holding me back and challenge me to take action. I needed to be seen in a non-judgmental way for who I was and where I wanted to go.

I love holding space for my clients in this way. To mirror back their inherent gifts, and help them to love themselves for who they are. All the while still holding a vision for what’s possible for them.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Every client of mine goes on a journey of self-discovery and self-compassion and it’s truly such a beautiful transformation to witness.

I know from experience that when you’re feeling lost, you tend to look outside yourself for anything to tell you who you are and what to do. I help people look within to get clarity and direction in their life and find meaning along the way.

I love supporting folks to connect to themselves on a deeper level. To rediscover their magic and own their uniqueness. To step into their next-level self. It’s about getting intentional, getting clear on what you want, visualizing yourself in that life, and taking action to get there.

What are your plans for the future?
I’m opening up spaces for more 1:1 clients. I love the feeling of intimately holding space for someone to talk about their dreams, be seen and heard, and help them find more ease in their life.

It’s seriously my dream job and I get to help others find theirs as well.
