Meet Malcole Ayers of Madison

Today we’d like to introduce you to Malcole Ayers

Hi Malcole, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Ever since I was a little girl, I loved feeling and looking beautiful. I always made sure to look nice before leaving home. When I was younger, my mom couldn’t always afford to get my hair done, so I would try doing it myself with whatever she could provide. Fast forward to high school, I moved to Nashville due to an electrical fire that caused us to lose everything. There, I was enrolled in a cosmetology class with a teacher who was also the cheer coach. With my background in cheerleading, she encouraged me to try out, and I did. I became very close with her and started learning more about hair.

After graduating, I was unsure if the beauty industry was my path because both my mom and dad pushed me towards a four-year college. I tried three different universities but realized it wasn’t for me. At that time, eyelashes were becoming very popular, so I started selling eyelash strips. However, I wanted a trade, so I decided to learn how to do eyelash extensions. For my birthday in 2021, I invested in myself, took a class, and got certified. I began taking models from my home, turning my dining room into my lash room and building a clientele. Eventually, I moved into my own suite.

I knew I didn’t want to just do lashes; I wanted my own salon. So, I went to school for cosmetology and got back into doing hair. I was so blessed that God provided me with a salon before I even graduated from cosmetology school. Now, I am a salon owner, eyelash technician, and hairstylist. I absolutely love what I do!

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
One thing I’ve learned about achieving true success is that the journey is never smooth. One of my favorite sayings is “good things come to those who wait” because our timing and God’s timing are often very different. On this path I’m on, there are days when I feel discouraged, but there are also days when I feel incredibly motivated and grateful for this opportunity. People often see the success of owning a business but not the obstacles faced along the way. I just opened my salon in October 2024, investing nearly all my savings into it. I’ve lost close relationships and missed out on social events, reaching for the stars can be a lonely journey. Don’t give up! Success requires taking risks. Even though I’m not yet where I want to be, I know that when you sow a seed, believe in yourself, and keep God first, blessings are bound to follow.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am in the beauty industry, specializing in eyelashes, and I now offer hair services as well. I am most proud of being a salon owner, which is the ultimate goal for many women in my industry. I believe my professionalism sets me apart from others, and I always strive to maintain a welcoming and peaceful environment.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
Growing up, I was always a people person and initially aspired to be an actress. My parents would often take me to auditions in Nashville, though I wasn’t quite successful in that area. I have always loved looking good and keeping up with the latest trends. From an early age, I was driven to become the most successful version of myself and have always been self-aware.
