Hi Malcolm, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I moved my family from the quiet town of Jackson, Michigan to the vibrant city of Nashville in 2019. Leaving behind my successful personal training business, Hardwork Fitness, was a difficult decision, but I knew it was time for a change after eight years of one-on-one training. My family’s main motivation for the move was to provide my children, Carter and Madison, with better opportunities for their future.
Nashville attracted us with its promise of growth and endless possibilities. As I contemplated my next career move, I realized my passion for exploring homes and decided to dive into the world of real estate. With the determination to make this transition successful, I started on my new journey in October 2019 with The Ashton Real Estate Group.
Little did I know that my decision would prove to be more than just a fresh start. Against all odds, I quickly fell in love with the real estate industry and discovered a natural talent for connecting people with their dream homes. In a surprising turn of events, my dedication and hard work paid off when I was awarded the prestigious title of RE/MAX 2020 Rookie of the Year for our region, covering Tennessee, Ohio, and Kentucky. This achievement not only boosted my confidence but also solidified my decision to pursue real estate wholeheartedly.
After gaining valuable experience and knowledge during my time with The Ashton Real Estate Group, I felt a yearning for more growth and learning. Seeking new challenges and perspectives, I decided to venture into the world of boutique brokerages. Now, I am proudly partnered with Arlo Nugent and Blue Chip Realty at eXp Realty, where I continue to expand my horizons and establish myself as a respected real estate agent.
Throughout this incredible journey, my high school sweetheart and wife, Kristine, have been my unwavering support.
Together, we’ve weathered the storms and celebrated the victories, proving that love truly knows no boundaries. As a token of my adventurous spirit, I reached out to the Tennessee Titans Blue Crew Drumline upon our arrival in Nashville. Being a professional drummer back home with the Detroit Pistons Drumline, I couldn’t resist the opportunity to join the thrilling rhythm of the Titans. Drumming alongside the Blue Crew Drumline during the 2019-2020 season brought a renewed sense of joy and connection to the city.
Now, with my thriving real estate career and loving family by my side, I am ready to embrace whatever surprises Nashville has in store. The journey from a small-town personal trainer to a respected real estate agent has been nothing short of extraordinary, and I can’t wait to see what exciting adventures lie ahead in this vibrant city that I now proudly call home.
I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
One of my favorite quotes from Eric Thomas is “All roads that lead to success have to pass through hard work; Boulevard at some point.”
With that being said the biggest struggle I’ve found in real estate is being new to the area and getting people that know you to trust you in what could be the biggest purchase of their life.
As every Realtor knows, there are ebbs and flows to this business. You could be very busy one week and very slow another. It takes hard work to be a successful real estate agent.
