Today we’d like to introduce you to Mandy Whitley.

Hi Mandy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I started doing photography in 2006. Our wedding photographer was so kind and let me ask her a million questions as I had always been interested in photography. I ended up shadowing with her and second shooting for her. As the years went on I found that I enjoyed working with families and their pets the most, so in 2016 my pets and their people photography business was born. I’ve been doing this type of work for 10 years now and love it so much! I’ve photographed almost every kind of domestic animal you can think of!

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
I am a firm believer that if you love what you do it will work out and that has 100% been the case for me.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I specialize in pets and their people photography, which means I want your pets to be in your family photos! People often say it must be so hard working with pets, but honestly I don’t feel that way at all. I have some great tricks up my sleeve that allows me to capture the attention of even the most distractible animals! I do mostly photograph people with their dogs, but I am happy to photograph your cats, horses, chickens – you name it!

Do you have any advice for those looking to network or find a mentor?
Having a support network of other photographers was crucial in my early years of working. There were lots of meet ups and opportunities to bounce ideas off each other. Those connections have helped me throughout my career.
