Meet Melissa Silva

Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Silva.

Hi Melissa, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
I always tell people sound therapy found me when I was in my darkest place in life. I was in my early 30s, a mom of two beautiful girls, married, and working full time. Behind closed doors I was running on empty, my anxiety was outrageous, suffering from sexual and mental abuse; completely lost and trying to do whatever I could to keep it together for my daughters. My older sister knew all I was going through and told me to invest in a crystal sound bowl! I started playing it as often as possible; it helped me begin my healing journey, and find myself. My instruments bring multiple levels of vibrations used for healing, relaxation, and just an overall feeling of going into a different realm. Working with sound saved me and I want to offer others the same gift and opportunity.

My purpose and passion are to gently guide an individual on a sound bath of self-healing with a traditional holistic option. It isn’t and never will be easy but the journey is worth it. With sound, you can start the process of overcoming trauma, and sleep issues, reduce pain, remove blockages and promote the body’s natural ability to heal itself.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Not at all. I’m a Director of Human Resources for a rehabilitation facility.

It’s very demanding and takes a lot of energy from me. I enjoy my work family though. On top of that, I’m still on my own healing journey which is a challenge on its own. Trying to unlearn old habits, break bad habits, learn new habits, continue to stay creative, work on my business taking off, and also raise my 15-year-old.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I offer sound sessions. A session includes a combination of sound bowls, gongs, and tuning forks. I’m currently working on adding more to my sound family with another gong and Koshi chimes. The vibrations of sound help reduce stress, and issues with sleeping, help promote relaxation, release tension in the body, and remove blockages in the physical, mental and emotional areas. This session can be done in person, via zoom, or facetime.

We are all on this healing journey. I’m a kind, understanding, gentle type of being that understands we have to be loving and not hard on ourselves because we’re currently where we are supposed to be at this very moment even if we don’t fully understand – we will understand one day.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
My oldest sister Vanessa Mateu with indigo sanctuary in California is the one that introduced me to sound and still to this day helps me be a better sound healer. My oldest daughter Breona Hearing for being supportive and for always pushing me to the next level. My mama for always being my #1 fan and supporter. My daughter Valencia for being my cheerleader, making me laugh and always down for an adventure! VK for always pushing me out of my shell and reminding me of my gifts.
