Meet Michelle Williamson of Murfreesboro

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michelle Williamson.

Hi Michelle, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work in a variety of salon environments, each offering its own unique lessons and challenges. Over time, those experiences shaped a clear vision in my mind: I wanted to build a salon culture that prioritized a true sense of team — a place where beauty professionals could grow both personally and professionally, while still keeping God and family at the center.

Having owned and managed several salons, I gained valuable insight into what contributes to a healthy, sustainable work environment. I saw firsthand what fosters longevity and what causes turnover. From those lessons, I became intentional about cultivating a space where stylists feel seen, supported, and empowered — not just in their craft, but in their lives.

At the heart of it, my goal has always been to create a salon culture that people don’t want to leave — one that nurtures growth, encourages collaboration over competition, and values people as much as performance.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Adapting to the next generation of stylists has definitely been a learning curve — but a valuable one. Each new wave brings different expectations, communication styles, and motivations. I’ve learned that what worked five or ten years ago doesn’t always inspire or retain today’s talent. So, I’ve had to evolve — not just as a leader, but as a listener.

It’s challenged me to think differently about mentorship, flexibility, and what growth truly means for this generation. I’ve leaned into creating a culture that blends structure with freedom, tradition with innovation, and accountability with compassion. Keeping them motivated isn’t about micromanaging — it’s about giving them something real to believe in, a path forward, and the support to walk it.

Ultimately, I see it as my responsibility to pave the way for the stylists coming up behind me. I want to build something they can stand on — not just step into. That means constantly learning, staying open, and growing the business in a way that honors where we’ve been, while boldly stepping into where we’re going.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I’m a licensed Master Barber and the proud owner of Bombshells Hair Studio, a salon that’s been serving our community for over 15 years. We’re known not just for beautiful hair, but for the culture we’ve built — one rooted in excellence, empowerment, and purpose. Bombshells has received several national and local accolades, including being named one of the Top 200 Salons in America, a Top 22 Keune Salon, and a multi-year winner of Rutherford County’s Ruthies Award for Favorite Hair Salon.

What sets us apart is the way we combine high-level artistry with deep community impact. Over the years, I’ve had the honor of giving back through several charitable initiatives — including partnering with Bob Summers to host events in honor of his late wife, raising funds for MSA research at the University of Michigan. That experience deeply influenced how we view service within the salon.

One of the accomplishments I’m most proud of is founding A Wig’s Story, our nonprofit organization that provides high-quality wigs to individuals experiencing hair loss due to medical conditions. It’s more than a mission — it’s a way to restore confidence and dignity, one person at a time.

At the core of everything we do is a commitment to lifting others up, whether it’s the clients in our chairs, the team members behind the chair, or the community around us. That heart — paired with a relentless pursuit of growth and mastery — is what truly defines Bombshells.
