Today we’d like to introduce you to Patrick Jaouen.
Hi Patrick, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I’ve been writing and performing music for over 25 years in various forms and facets. I feel like this latest project TPJB (The Patrick Jaouen Band) is really the best project I’ve been a part of to date. My bandmates are amazing musicians and we play together like we’re family. It’s quite amazing the chemistry. It just feels right. I’m just so proud of our last two records “Masqué” and “Don’t Press Play” and I’m already super excited about what we’ve done so far for the next one that’ll be coming out this year titled “Fast Forward”
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Absolutely not. I’ve had ups and down along the way and sometimes it feels like more downs but I’m a firm believer in the belief that it’ll all work itself out if you put in hard work and really do your best to treat every obstacle as a challenge.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
The Patrick Jaouen band is a U.S.-based original rock band. Their most recent concept album “Masqué” was up for consideration on the 63rd ©Grammy Ballot for Alternative Album of the Year. The band is headed by BMI songwriter, guitar player and lead vocalist Patrick Jaouen alongside fellow band members the classically trained pianist, co-songwriter Garegin Grigoryan, Vocalist Susan Gemmett, Keyboard player Greg Machin, drummer Matt Giordano and bassist and co-songwriter Jeffrey D. Carr. Their most recent EP “Don’t Press Play” was released in September 2021 featuring the highly anticipated tracks “4:05” and “Uncertain”
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
It’s important to cross your T’s and dot your I’s when it comes to the music business. It’s so much fun sometimes that you can easily forget it’s a business. Make sure you read everything you sign and make contracts with everyone you work with. Most importantly if you treat it like a business everyone you work with knows exactly what the expectations are and it makes it way easier to make sure it stays fun.
