Meet Paul Martin of Hendersonville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Paul Martin.

Hi Paul, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
Former lead vocalist guitarist for country pop group Exile 1988-1995. Grammy winning artist, member of the Kentucky Music Hall Of Fame. Current leader at Rockland Road LLC since 2018. Rockland Road is six musicians who share the last name Martin—representing four
generations of musical heritage—all vocalists who among them are also multi
instrumentalists. It is a powerhouse group featuring soulful vocals imbued with a
pure, exuberant joy worthy of the talented blood that flows through this family’s
veins.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
There have been plenty of ups and downs. As I once heard ” It is impossible to achieve the aim without suffer.” As I call it the plus and minus column. There are some nice pluses, but the minus column is quite a bit longer.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We write music and produce and release it. We perform live all over the country at Performing Art Centers, Festivals and fairs. We are always proud to be asked to return to perform at venues annually. There are many family acts that perform, but most are just made up of the children in the family, or sometimes only a couple siblings and the parents. Rockland Road consists of both parents and children who not only sing but are musically self contained. We also have a deep musical heritage. Musical roots from myself (Paul), but my wife’s parents also have deep musical heritage. My father-In-Law is the lead vocalist for the legendary Oak Ridge Boys (since 1966), and my Mother-in-law was a background vocalist at the Grand Ole Opry for 40 years.

Is there anyone you’d like to thank or give credit to?
Unfortunately my parents have been deceased for many years, but my in-laws have been some of our biggest cheerleaders. We have lots of friends in the Industry here in Nashville that have supported in many ways. Connections are truly important in any field.
