Meet Reggie Oliver of Pennsylvania

Today we’d like to introduce you to Reggie Oliver.

Hi Reggie, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today.
I grew up in Williamsport, PA, and gained my love and passion for dance! I moved around A lot, so I didn’t get to take classes; therefore, I taught myself for a long time! I had no support from my family after graduating until my mother was diagnosed with cancer, and they saw how I could provide for her and myself through dance and pay for a wedding all at the same time! My passion and love for dance have opened many doors allowing me to perform in many award shows ( my first award show was in Nashville!!), TV series, and even the super bowl!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey has been a smooth road?
Not at all! The biggest struggle was proving to my family that I knew what I wanted in life and had what I took to get where I am! The second biggest struggle was accomplishing so much but not being able to have my mother here to see it! And finally, my 3rd big struggle was transitioning from being a “Loner” to trying to make friends as a dancer after always moving around and having no time to do so!

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar, what can you tell them about what you do?
I am a professional Dancer and Choreographer!
I wear many hats in this field! One of my proudest moments was going viral and being named “The Dancing Groom” after a video of me dancing for my wife at our wedding went viral! I now have a side business choreographing wedding dances for newlyweds when the time allows! Aside from that, as a dancer, I have and continue to dance for musical artists like The Weeknd, Keke Palmer, Toni Braxton, and many more. I’ve been blessed to be on Television a lot the past few years! My biggest goal is to provide a quality opportunity for dancers in PA so they don’t feel they can only be successful elsewhere! I love how blown away fellow dancers are when they see the jobs I do while still living in PA as opposed to LA, NY, and ATL, which have many opportunities!

We’re always looking for the lessons that can be learned in any situation, including tragic ones like the Covid-19 crisis. Are there any lessons you’ve learned that you can share?
Yes! I have furthermore learned the art of Adaption! Covid changed so many things, and being mentally strong was a must to keep up with constant changes!

Examples: zoom rehearsals, wearing masks, sanitation breaks, quarantining before starting the jobs.
