Today, we’d like to introduce you to Rhys Olivia Cote.
Hi Rhys, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today.
Hello my name is Rhys Olivia Cote. My journey started when I was three years old. It started by my parents sharing one photo of me for the Kelly & Michael Live – Cutest Kid Contest. My image was shared on their show. I was placed in the top 15 and I was interviewed and featured on the news. After that, I was signed to an agency in NYC, Boston, and a few years later California
At age 7, I was on Little Big Shots with Mr. Steve Harvey. At age 8, I worked on my first feature film, The Equalizer 2, with Mr. Denzel Washington. Since then I have completed three more movies, three short films, and two TV shows. I have also done a handful of commercials and voice-overs.
Over the years for modeling, I have worked for Tommy Hilfiger Global, Ralph Lauren, Love Shack Fancy, Oscar de la Renta, and even opened for one of his runway bridal shows. I’ve done many brands and have enjoyed them all. I’ve also done many magazine editorials and runway shows.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall, and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It’s not a smooth road.
I’m trying to balance it with just being a normal teen, it’s constant work to learn lines, working with acting and vocal coaches, auditions, then waiting for a callback and hoping that they chose you for the role.
You have to have thick skin for the rejection part of it, but it’s an amazing feeling when you get the call saying you booked the role.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do? What sets you apart from others?
I’m an actress and model and I also sing. My acting career has given me so many opportunities that I am grateful for.
Singing and song writing is a new adventure. I released a song this past summer. It’s a fun song! You can find it on iSpotify, Amazon, and all major streaming platforms. It’s called “Gotta Slow Down.”
Right now a movie I worked on before the strike is in post-production. It will be out at the end of this summer or the beginning of fall.
The name of it is Sheep Dog. I’m super excited about this one, as it is about Veterans.
I think what sets me apart from others is that even though I have had some amazing opportunities, and have been around famous people, I never think I am better than others. I stay humble, and I am thankful for my family and the blessings that God has given me.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting?
Keep your circle small. Surround yourself with people who want to lift you up, not bring you down. Be around people who believe in you as much as you believe in yourself.
