Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosie Ramos.
Hi Rosie, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My name is Rosie, a proud Latina born on the beautiful coast of Mexico and raised in the countryside of Robertson County, Tennessee. I moved to the United States as a young child, following my parents’ dream of building a better future. Their courage, sacrifices, and unwavering love shaped the person I am today, and I will always be grateful to both my parents and this country for the opportunities I’ve been given.
Today, I’m the proud mother of the most beautiful, sassy little girl and two very spoiled pups who keep life full of joy and adventure. I am the girl behind GISA Photography, and this is only the beginning of the many dreams I plan to turn into reality.
My photography journey officially began in 2020, although my love for capturing moments started long before that, when I was just a little girl. The name GISA was actually created in 2018 when my little brother was born by my papa—a name that would later become the heart and identity of my business. After giving birth to my daughter, photography became so much more than a hobby—it became my escape, my safe place, and ultimately, my path to healing..
As I navigated postpartum depression, picking up my camera gave me a renewed sense of peace and purpose. Through photography, I found a way to reconnect with myself, express emotions that were difficult to put into words, and discover beauty in life’s simplest moments.
What began as a deeply personal outlet has grown into both a passion and a purpose. Today, I have the privilege of preserving memories, telling meaningful stories, and creating genuine connections with the families and individuals I photograph. My goal is to capture more than beautiful images—I want to preserve authentic emotions and fleeting moments that will be cherished for generations.
Photography reminds me every day that even during life’s hardest seasons, there is still beauty to be found. It has not only changed my life but has also given me the opportunity to help others preserve the moments that matter most. Every session is more than just taking photos; it’s about celebrating love, family, milestones, and the stories that make each person’s journey unique.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road. My journey has been filled with challenges, but each one has helped me grow, improve, and learn along the way. Every obstacle has pushed me to become better, not only as a photographer but also as a person.
There have been moments of doubt, moments where balancing life, motherhood, and pursuing my passion felt overwhelming. However, those challenges taught me patience, resilience, and the importance of continuing to believe in myself. Looking back, I’m grateful for every difficult moment because they have shaped my journey and helped me become the photographer I am today.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I truly love what I do. Photography, to me, is about more than just taking beautiful images — it’s about capturing the emotions, connections, and little moments that become priceless memories.
I love documenting the natural, candid moments that people often overlook, because those are usually the moments that hold the most meaning. A genuine laugh, a quiet glance, a spontaneous hug, or a moment of pure happiness are memories that can never be recreated. Those are the moments my clients will look back on years from now and feel all over again.
My style focuses on natural lifestyle photography, where my clients can truly be themselves and enjoy their experience instead of feeling like they are constantly being posed. I want people to feel comfortable, present, and connected while I capture their story authentically.
I pay attention to the little details that make each session unique. I want to know what makes you smile, what song makes you want to dance like nobody is watching, or who is that one person in your life who makes everything feel easier. Sometimes, simply asking someone to think about that person brings out the most genuine smile, the most heartfelt laugh, and the most beautiful emotion — and that is the moment I want to preserve forever.
What I’m most proud of is creating images that allow people to relive their emotions, not just remember how they looked. I believe what sets me apart is my ability to connect with my clients and capture the real, imperfect, beautiful moments that make their story uniquely theirs.
Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc?
There are a few resources that have helped me grow both personally and professionally. One book that has had a meaningful impact on me is The Power of Moments, which reminds me of the importance of creating experiences and capturing the moments that people will remember forever.
I also enjoy listening to The Mel Robbins Podcast and A Toast to Life Podcast, which inspire me to continue learning, growing, and approaching life with a positive mindset.
Beyond books and podcasts, I find a lot of inspiration from other photographers and entrepreneurs. I love following their work, learning from their creative journeys, and hearing the stories behind the businesses they’ve built. Seeing how other artists have grown, overcome challenges, and continued chasing their dreams motivates me to keep improving, stay creative, and continue building my own path in photography.
But above anyone else, the greatest inspiration in my life has been the man who gave me a new future—my dad. His strength, determination, and ability to do it all have shaped the person I am today. I admire the courage it took for him to leave his home country at a young age and build a future not only for himself, but eventually for his family.
His dedication, countless hours of hard work, sacrifices, and willingness to keep going through difficult times taught me the true meaning of perseverance. Everything he built came from love, determination, and the hope of creating better opportunities for the people he cared about.
He built his business from the ground up, and today he is a proud owner of his own remodeling company—a reflection of his hard work, resilience, and belief in never giving up. His journey reminds me that dreams are possible when you have the courage to pursue them and the discipline to keep working toward them.
One thing my dad has always told me is, “Never let anyone tell you that you aren’t capable of doing something. You are the only person who decides whether you can or can’t.” Those words have stayed with me throughout my life, and they continue to inspire me every day as I chase my own dreams and build my journey in photography.
