Meet Rudrani Devi of Nashville

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rudrani Devi.

Hi Rudrani, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My Story – Rüdrani Devi
I’m Rüdrani Devi, a Nashville-based healer, author, actress, and singer-songwriter with a deeply rooted lineage of intuitive and gifted women. My life has been anything but conventional — a tapestry of transformation, resilience, and reinvention.

I began my journey as a holistic therapist and healer, eventually becoming a certified vibrational healer in Life Alignment Technique® through the National Institute of Health in Boulder, Colorado in 2004. Over the years, my work as a medical intuitive gained recognition, and I expanded my practice both online and in-person, wherever I was called. I’m also a certified facilitator of Access Consciousness®, leading specialized classes like Right Voice for You, Relationships Done Different, Living Beyond Gaslighting, and Listening to the Whispers of Creative Writing, among others.

Alongside my healing work, I’m the author of three best-selling books. My most recent, Choosing Happiness, explores the surprising ways we resist joy — and offers tools for choosing a more aware, fulfilled life. The book’s message has resonated so strongly that it’s now translated into multiple languages including Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, and Arabic, with Mandarin and Turkish editions on the way.

But my path hasn’t always been light-filled. In 2008, during a meditation retreat in Mumbai, I survived the devastating terror attacks known as the 2008 Mumbai Massacre. I was shot at point-blank range, surrounded by unimaginable horror. My femur was shattered, and for a time, I didn’t know if I would ever walk again. But I chose to heal — not just physically, but spiritually and emotionally. That healing journey eventually led me to run the Boston Marathon, with Adidas sponsorship and unwavering support from my trainer. It also deepened my commitment to bring love, light, and consciousness into places of darkness.

I’ve always believed in using my voice — both literally and metaphorically — and that has led me to a vibrant career in music and acting as well.

Since moving to Nashville in 1984, I’ve been a sought-after studio vocalist, lending my voice to countless jingles, demos, and original songs. I’m the lead singer and songwriter of Ru Devi and The Dudes, a funk/R&B/soul group inspired by the golden groove of the 70s with a modern twist. My music journey includes bands like The Paper Dolls, Klaudine & the Music Machine, and FunkHammer, and I continue to perform today with JonesWorld and Ru Devi and The Dudes. I’ve released several singles — “Do Me,” “Lover, Lover,” and “I Want to Know” — along with the EP Echoes of the 70s. I was honored as “Best Funk/R&B Performer” on ReverbNation starting in 2018.

More recently, I’ve embraced the world of acting, appearing in a growing list of film and television projects. My recent roles include parts in The Last Application, Showtime Hight, and short films like It’s Just Business and The Read with Marita. I love exploring the depth and vulnerability of each character I portray, whether it’s a tarot enthusiast, a guidance counselor, or even the girlfriend of a serial killer.

In June, I was honored to be selected to participate in the Model and Talent Expo powered by Nouvelle Productions in Dallas–Fort Worth, where I’ll be showcasing my range as a performer. I’ll be acting, singing (including performing an original song), and walking the runway in both fashion and bathing suit segments — embracing every facet of my creativity and expression.

At my core, I am a truth-seeker, a creative, and a “glass-half-full” type of gal. My mission is simple: to shine a light where there is darkness — whether that’s through healing, writing, singing, or storytelling. I believe that every experience, no matter how painful, carries a seed of possibility. And if I can inspire even one person to choose joy, then my journey has been worth it.

A certified vibrational healer and Access Consciousness® facilitator, she has helped people worldwide access greater awareness and joy. Her latest book, Choosing Happiness, has been translated into multiple languages and continues to inspire readers globally.

A survivor of the 2008 Mumbai terror attacks, Rüdrani’s healing journey led her from a wheelchair to running the Boston Marathon and beyond. She also shines on stage and screen — starring in film and TV projects, releasing original music, and performing with her bands Ru Devi and The Dudes and JonesWorld. In June, she’ll be featured at the Model and Talent Expo in Dallas–Fort Worth, performing an original song, acting, and walking the runway in both fashion and swimwear categories.

Whether she’s writing, healing, singing, or acting, Rüdrani is on a mission to shine light in the darkest of places — and to inspire others to choose joy, no matter what.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
My story is one of survival, resilience, and rising beyond what many might believe is possible.

In 2008, I was in Mumbai, India on a meditation retreat when I became a victim of the Mumbai Massacre — a brutal terrorist attack that left over 150 dead. I was shot at point-blank range and left for dead. By what I can only describe as grace, I was dragged to safety and spared from a hand grenade that failed to detonate. My femur was shattered, and I spent years in a wheelchair, enduring intense physical therapy and learning how to walk all over again.

During that time, my then-husband left me — starting a new life with a co-worker’s sister, leaving me with nothing but the cats he couldn’t take. I am still grateful for those cats; they got me through the darkest nights when I had no insurance, no financial support, and no idea how I would survive.

Our legal battles only lasted the two years leading to our divorce, but the emotional impact lingered. In May of 2024, after enduring years of post-divorce stalking, I finally took him to court. He promised to leave me alone, and I chose not to press charges. That moment closed a long, painful chapter — and I was free to step fully into the next.

Somehow, through it all, I found my way back to myself.

I wrote three best-selling books, sharing my story and the tools I used to heal. I slowly began working with clients again, facilitating healing sessions and guiding others on their path to recovery and empowerment. And one day, while walking on the beach with two of my best friends — something I once thought I’d never do again — they asked me, “What do you want to do that you haven’t in years?”

I said, “Sing. Perform.”

Today, I’m doing exactly that. I’m the lead singer and songwriter for Ru Devi and the Dudes, a funk/R&B/soul band that feeds my creative soul. I act in short and feature-length films, model for both runway and print, and have stepped into commercial work, voice-over, and influencer campaigns. In June 2025, I’ll be showcasing all of these talents at the Model and Talent Expo in Dallas–Fort Worth, performing an original song, acting, and walking the runway in both fashion and swimwear.

My path has not been easy. But I’m still standing. Singing. Creating. And thriving.

I’ve turned tragedy into purpose, and pain into power. I know what it means to lose everything — and I know how to rebuild a life that’s even better than before. I am truly blessed.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
As both an artist and a healer, my work is deeply rooted in transformation, expression, and truth-telling. Whether I’m on stage with my band Ru Devi and the Dudes, on set acting in a film, modeling in front of the camera, or holding sacred space for a client in a healing session — my purpose is the same: to awaken what’s real, to shine a light where there’s been darkness, and to remind people of their own capacity to heal and create.

On the creative side, I’m a singer-songwriter, actress, and model who thrives on storytelling. I specialize in original funk, soul, and R&B music with a vintage-meets-modern edge. I’ve written and recorded music that speaks to emotional resilience, empowerment, and the joy of self-expression. As an actress, I love taking on complex, layered characters that reflect the messiness and beauty of being human — roles that ask me to dig deep and be fearless. And stepping into modeling, voice-over, and commercial work has only expanded how I use my voice and presence to connect with others.

As a healer, I’m a certified vibrational therapist and facilitator of Access Consciousness® with nearly two decades of experience. My clients come to me when they’re ready to shift something deep — whether emotional, energetic, or even physical. I’m known in the healing community as a medical intuitive who holds a safe, non-judgmental space where people can unravel what’s been holding them back and step into a life that actually works for them.

What sets me apart is that I live what I teach. I’ve rebuilt my life from the ground up — not just once, but multiple times. I’ve survived trauma, betrayal, disability, and loss. And yet, here I am — creating art, facilitating transformation, walking runways, singing on stage, and helping others find their way back to themselves. I don’t just talk about healing — I embody it.

What I’m most proud of is that I never gave up. I kept choosing joy, even when it felt impossible. I kept using my voice — in music, in writing, in healing — because I believe with everything in me that we are all here to rise.

In terms of your work and the industry, what are some of the changes you are expecting to see over the next five to ten years?
Over the next 5–10 years, I see both the creative and healing industries becoming increasingly integrated, more inclusive, and deeply focused on authenticity. In entertainment, there’s a growing hunger for real stories — layered characters, diverse voices, and multidimensional artists who can do more than one thing. As someone who sings, acts, writes, and heals, I’m excited to be part of this shift.

In the healing space, people are seeking embodied practitioners — those who’ve walked through the fire and come out with real tools. There’s a rising openness to energy work, somatic healing, and consciousness practices, especially as mental health becomes less stigmatized.

Overall, I see a blending of art and healing — storytelling as medicine, and performance that transforms. That’s exactly where I thrive.
