Meet Ryan Joyce

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ryan Joyce.

Hi Ryan, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my music career in a rock band in North Carolina. Growing up, we accomplished releasing an EP and touring throughout North Carolina, South Carolina, and Virginia. I came to Nashville when that band was over and started to write country music and make my own songs.

I lived about 35 minutes outside of Nashville until recently. I moved to Florida recently and return to Nashville every few months to record and meet up with connections that help me advance my mission.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
The struggles all coincide with making sure that what I am making is different. Social media has caused a lot of us to end up acting/writing/creating the same as everyone else. Everyone wants to take the same path and get picked up by the same industry. That has been the biggest challenge.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I create country music, apparel, and a podcast. Currently, the biggest thing that sets me apart from others is that I didn’t want to take the same path as everyone else.

I was done with what “Nashville country” has convinced every young person is the only path to a career in music.

Music companies unfortunately have controlled that narrative for a long time and I really want to change that.

Independent music is real and doable if we can encourage people to take control and do their own thing.

I am most proud of the idea that I have and will do everything my own way.

Where do you see things going in the next 5-10 years?
I see my industry shifting more towards the independent scene. Artists are taking back control of the music industry.

We have access to fans like never before and it is only going to get better as we learn how to bypass big music companies that are very behind the curve when it comes to trends.
