Today we’d like to introduce you to Sabian Beard.
Hi Sabian, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
They say “life is an adventure”, and what’s an adventure without twists and turns, unexpected detours, and a glorious purpose to give it all meaning? Such is my story. In my time in the workforce I have been a retail worker, a chimney sweep, a mortgage professional, a marketing guy, and more, and through each stage of being a career nomad I learned more and more about various elements of business and service.
As time proceeded and I gained a wonderful wife and son, I found that I wanted more freedom to spend with them. After all, provision for your family is more than a paycheck: it is presence. Our world does a bad job of focusing only on “getting that bread” while forgetting whom you are trying to feed.
The brand itself is called Fit For The Fight, and it came from the observation that so many men are struggling with the world. By virtue of passive leaders and active opponents, men find themselves floundering, weakened, not being what they are called to be. FFTF focuses on various pillars of Biblical masculinity: Faith and Marriage/Relationship, Fitness, Nutrition, and Financial wellness are all spoken of at length in the Word, and all are fundamental to making a man great.
It began as a blog/affiliate/homemade goods/useful tools collection, and has grown to have a Nutrition division wherein I sell a no-frills electrolyte blend I tested and make myself, as well as a Field Service division calling upon skills I developed and continue to acquire in blue collar work. The latter focuses on provision and hard work (another Biblical tenet), because I found myself writing about how to be a hard man in a button up shirt from a desk in an office! Funny, right? The proverbial suit didn’t fit, so I wanted to start up trade work not only for income stability but on-brand profession.
All in all, Fit For The Fight exists to make men great by teaching and coaching on the things that will help them be their best!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Ha! No good story consists only of walking sunny trails in green fields. For one thing, you can know academically some of the things to do or apply, but it is in the fires of experience that you really get to solidify that knowledge. For another, being a worthy man in today’s world involves mastery of self, skillful negotiation with others, faithful devotion to the Lord, and meaningful sacrifice on all fronts. I would change absolutely none of it though, as it has crammed a good deal of useful experience into this head of mine in a somewhat short amount of time. I like who I’ve become through the battlefields of adversity, so I carry no regrets with me.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Fit For The Fight?
This brand teaches, coaches, and serves men and their families in pillars of Biblical masculinity, aspects that make men great and function in what they are meant to be. With a successful and ongoing marriage, lifelong fitness training and nutritional curiosity, both financial and trade work, and hobbies that require grit and precision, I believe I am qualified to show and give good references to what makes a good man. Men are struggling, but they don’t have to stay there!
At the time of writing, the Nutrition division features a well-researched and homemade electrolyte blend that was specifically designed for simplicity. No colors, no dyes, nothing fake. It’s called Work-Grade Electrolytes and it’s for everyone who puts in the work of life.
The Field Service division focuses on trade work, which right now take the form of dryer vent inspection and maintenance (clogged or faulty vents are the leading cause of house fires, and fire departments recommend at least an annual cleaning). Some places charge an arm and a leg for simple setups, others have obscure pricing ranges, but I do a flat rate, no questions asked. During our time together I’ll show and teach whatever you’d like to see and know, and each service gets its own dated picture folder of all parts of the system to demonstrate job completion (you’d be surprised what poor quality workers try to get away with!). I do honest work, I do it right, and I take pride in keeping people’s homes safe.
What’s next?
Expansion is the name of the game, right? I do intend to grow as it makes sense, but wisely. I have some plans for expanding both the Field Service and Nutrition divisions, as well as opening financial coaching service to make use of the Ramsey Financial Master Coach training I did. I give this business to Jesus daily, so as He sees fit I will go. This is rooted in His mission and serves His people, after all.
