Today, we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Blodgett. Sarah was introduced to us by the brilliant and talented Dr. Hannah Brandt, PT, DPT, CPT, IFNCP.
Sarah , thank you so much for joining us today. We’d love for you to bring our readers up to speed – can you introduce yourself and share your story?
After 10-years as a professional dancer, I learned how important it is to approach artistry and creativity with attention to detail and a lot of discipline. When I retired from the stage, I made quick use of my marketing degree and pivoted into the world of corporate training & professional development.
As a different hotel room every night slowly grew old, I taught myself website design, and launched my own business creating streamlined and strategic websites for creative entrepreneurs to showcase their talents on the Internet stage.
6+ years and 200+ client websites later, I’m as inspired as ever to craft an effective website that empowers you to step into whatever’s next for your business.
Please tell us more about your brand, Digital Grace Design
Based in NYC, Digital Grace Design is an award-winning Showit website design studio for creatives, wedding professionals, and lifestyle brands. We help business owners (like you!) escape website shame and find confidence in a beautiful and strategic website that helps them book more clients and grow their businesses.
We specialize in website design – 3 ways: Custom Showit Websites, our client favorite – the Website in a Week, and one day Design Intensives. And for those that prefer a DIY approach to launching their next website, we also offer a Showit website template shop. After proudly serving 200+ clients and having been named Showit’s 2019 Designer of the Year, we’ve honed our client experience to guide you seamlessly through the website design process in order to collaboratively design a strategic website that generates real results and profits for your business.
While every project is unique, past clients have seen results like: • making back their investment – times 4 (!!) in just ONE day after launching their new website • seeing their ideal client inquiries double and even triple • or watching their website move from page 8 of search results to page 1 for their target keywords.
So, as we mentioned to our audience earlier, you were introduced to us by Dr. Hannah Brandt, PT, DPT, CPT, IFNCP and we really admire them and what they’ve built. For folks who might not be as familiar, can you tell them a bit about your experience with Dr. Hannah.
I started working with Dr. Hannah about 6 months ago, after struggling over several years to make any major strides in my weight loss goals on my own. Having been a professional dancer in ballet companies and tours of Broadway shows in a past life chapter, I knew what my body was capable of from a health and fitness perspective, but between retiring from dancing, stepping into a life where I worked sitting down most of the day, and pandemic weight gain, I struggled to find my health and fitness footing as a ‘normal person’.
And to be honest, I wasn’t actively looking for a health coach, but happened to stumble across Hannah’s profile on Instagram, and something about her message just really resonated with me. As a business owner, I’m used to hiring ‘experts’ in various areas to coach me or take on duties in their area of expertise to help my business grow – why not to support my health, too? What I was doing on my own clearly wasn’t getting me the results I wanted, so why not take advantage of her experience and expertise, while also gaining the accountability of having someone at my side through the process.
When choosing Hannah over other coaches out there, there were a few aspects of her approach that I was especially drawn to.
I appreciated her real candor and thought she’d be a fun person to go through the process with, but that also wouldn’t sugar coat things when necessary.
I loved that she had gone through a successful serious weight loss process herself, so she would truly understand what a process like this would feel like as a client. She wasn’t just lucky to be thin and fit, and selling the outcome of something that came naturally to her.
As someone who values technique, form, and education, I appreciated that she had a fairly holistic and well-rounded experience base as a DPT, personal trainer, and health and nutrition practitioner. She didn’t ‘just’ know about working out, or ‘just’ know about meal planning, but could consider the bigger picture with me.
And I appreciated that she was also a type-A, fairly perfectionistic person – and could understand and empathize with the positives and negatives that come with those traits.
My first a-ha moment came when we started working together, when I was surprised to find that I was actually under eating, so my body would likely struggle initially to want to lose weight from that state because it was just trying to hold onto the fuel it was receiving. Who knew?
So we actually started our journey by having me slowly increase my food intake over a few months to get my body used to having more fuel to work with, and giving us an on-ramp for a productive deficit from there. And ya know what? I actually lost weight while eating more. And now that we’re more actively dieting, I’m continuing to lose more and work towards my goals.
Additionally, my workouts have been really thoughtfully created, adjusted over time, and fun – and have been solely weight training and increased steps. As someone who’s never loved cardio, I’ve been thrilled to find that I’ve not been asked to spend hours on a treadmill or elliptical machine, and just to up my step count over the course of the day.
And it’s been great to learn in real time how to do all of this with Hannah by my side while navigating and finding balance in real life – with things like how to adjust on vacations and decide if it makes sense to count macros or get in a work out (and spoiler: have it be ok if it doesn’t make sense in those moments).
Or how to find consistency so that when you inevitably flub a day or two, you can get right back on track, without the guilt or throwing all your progress out the window. This experience has helped me feel more confident that when I’ve reached my health goals, and no longer have Hannah by my side, that I’ll be able to navigate real life while maintaining my health and related goals.
Ultimately, while I’m still in the middle of my journey of working with Dr. Hannah, I’d 100% recommend her.
If you’re looking for someone who’s been where you are and achieved their own health goals, who approaches your health with a holistic plan for both nutrition and workouts, and who will keep you accountable to the goals you’ve set, then I have no doubt that Dr. Hannah is the perfect coach to guide you through your own health journey – with long goals and sustainability in mind.
After all, if what you’ve been trying so far hasn’t gotten you the results you crave – what’ve you got to lose?
