Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Burnette.
Hi Sarah, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My interest in photography started after I graduated high school. I was an assistant for a local Nashville photographer that entire summer before heading off to college. I asked for a camera that Christmas because I wanted to be able to start learning how to take photos while on vacation and at college.
I learned my skills in photography from working as an assistant and on YouTube. In college, I became friends with a girl that took her own photos for her Instagram. We had a common interest and so we started shooting together around Knoxville. Throughout college, I often took landscape photos and photos of my friends. After graduating from college I was going to continue my education to a degree in nursing.
Before school started, I was doing product photography for a PR firm in Nashville where my interest really started growing because I started wondering about my potential. I was in nursing school for two semesters and then I got a job working as a patient care tech at a local hospital here in Nashville. I realized in October of 2021 that my true passion did not lie in being a nurse.
Photography has always been the one thing that I had often wondered about, “what if I just went for it? How would it turn out and successful could I be? What can I bring to the table?” In December of that same year, I told myself that in January of 2022, I was going to go for and hit the ground running.
Here I am four months later; I am loving every bit of my journey.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
“What do I want to be when I grow up?”
Is a question that I was unable to really answer for a long time. I often prayed to God for an answer or sign to know what to do. I felt so torn about what I really love or to stick with something that is your standard 9-5 with benefits.
After losing my dad in June 2021 I learned that life is too short to not do what you love.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your business?
My business is Sarah Burnette Photo. I specialize in shooting couples, portraits, and elopements. What sets my business apart is that I am here to tell someone’s story with authenticity and rawness.
My goal as a photographer is to capture the genuine love between the couple and have that emotion in the images. Capturing those moments that someone can have forever is priceless.
I value providing the most organic work that is of the highest quality while also providing an experience for my clients. If anyone is looking to book with me DM or email me is the best way to do that!
What sort of changes are you expecting over the next 5-10 years?
My hope is that in the next 5-10 years, I have a successful photography business while providing stunning works of art. I also hope to have the best clients that absolutely adore their photos for years to come.
