Meet Sarah Moore of 12th Avenue South

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Moore

Hi Sarah, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I always knew that I wanted to be an interior designer even as far back as high school. After graduating from Auburn University with a degree in interior design I started my business in 2015 after several years of working under another talented Nashville designer. Residential design has always been a passion of mine and as the years went on I have only grown to love it more! I have had the privilege to work with some incredibly talented architects, builders, craftsmen and of course, clients! I love that every single project is unique and presents its own set of creative challenges.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
As a whole I love what I do and who I get to do it with… but no construction project comes without surprises and setbacks. Last year we I was working on a home outside of Birmingham Alabama and we were putting in rustic, reclaimed beams way up in a 35ft high ceiling. I had to work with a structural engineer to ensure that the bracket hardware we produced would in fact hole the weight of these beams. Well, the structural requirements were incredibly UGLY… and we couldn’t have that. This space needed to channel a “Yellowstone lodge” feel… not industrial park. So I Set to work with my iron craftsman to come up with some custom hardware for the beams that would not only pass the engineers inspection, but would give the correct look for the space – thankfully we pulled it off! Sometimes great design is not just about making something look right – it has to meet codes and function too!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are a full service residential interior design firm bringing our clients casually elevated interiors. We work on projects of all types including furnishing only, but also full renovations and new construction. While we love to flex our creativity in many different design styles, our specialty is certainly bringing a fresh take to southern interiors. Our interiors are never boring, we LOVE to use color, pattern and a mix of textures in all of our spaces. I am constantly keeping my eyes open for new inspiration and ideas and saving them to use on future projects. it’s that “thinking outside of the box” that makes each home really feel bespoke and unique.

What matters most to you? Why?
One of our goals is to be good listeners when it comes to working with clients. We want to make sure that each of our homes reflects the client who lives there… what do they love? What is their unique style? What do they need in terms of function or durability? Do they love to host parties? watch movies? the list goes on… It’s a fun challenge to approach each and every project with a fresh set of eyes and creativity and have the opportunity to bring our ideas and design style into a project so at the end of the day the house feels like home to our clients
