Today we’d like to introduce you to Spencer Bradley.
Hi Spencer, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I moved to Nashville TN from a town called Hot Springs Arkansas about four and half years ago. I grew up playing music and one day I saw my favorite band Needtobreathe play in Little Rock, and I didn’t know how I was going to do it, but I knew wanted to do what they did! I started playing Bass Guitar shortly after that in my older brother’s band. After touring around the south for serval years with him, we decided to finally move to Nashville. Since moving here I’ve played with countless signed artists in town, including my brother who is now with Big Yellow Dog publishing, and I’ve opened up for about 60 big-name acts all over the country!
I love playing music and being on stage and getting to tour all over the country. Thankful to call this my job because I truly never feel like I have to “work.”
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way? Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I’d say this hasn’t been exactly a smooth road. I feel very fortunate because I have very supportive parents who always instilled in us to go after our dreams. It’s been about 8 years now in the making but the last 4 in Nashville have really been incredible. It’s nice to see hard work starting to pay off
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
So, I’m a touring musician I play bass guitar and sing backing vocals for several artists
I also tour manage for a few of the Artists I play for! It’s a good way for me to use my bossiness for good
I’d say I’m most proud of my ability to adapt and get along with pretty much anyone I meet and play for
That’s a big thing when you’re on the road. You play an hour show but the other 23 you gotta hang with each other
We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
I define success by how you feel inside. If I’m proud and happy with what I’m doing then I feel I’m successful. I always say, I might not be making “the best living” (financially) but I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
